Keuchel didn’t trade for Verlander, Luhnow did

Fact is, if we did what Dallas wanted, we wouldn’t have ended up with Verlander, and likely don’t have a ring

So maybe we could have easily gave more than Washington and traded for Herrera.....and maybe Luhnow passed because his sights are set on someone he thinks can be better

I’m in St. Andrews right now

I’m not gonna try to hit him, but I did hit the ball all over the place at Carnoustie today

So Brandon Morrow landed on the DL because he got hurt taking his pants off. Maybe, just maybe his lack of health over his career was a contributing factor to why Luhnow didn't go all out to sign him?

FWIW, he would have been my #1 bullpen target and wish we had him, but he is like the Charlie Morton of relievers.

    Wait, you're serious?

What does Steve Sparks have to say about this?

Who was the guy that busted himself up trying to take a deer carcass down the stairs?

There's always the Hunter Pence story too. But Sparks tearing up his shoulder trying to tear phonebooks apart because the motivational speaker said he could will always be my favorite, I think.

Also, our own Geoff Blum going on the DL after injuring his shoulder putting on his shirt (though he claims it was already injured)

Sosa ending up on the DL after sneezing.

Jonathan Lucroy breaking his hand trying to catch a suitcase.

Glenallen Hill ending up on the DL with multiple injuries after having a nightmare about spiders.

    Baseball has the best injuries.

    YES the spider story.

We need to **** with Blum and just let him tell all of this stuff some day during a blowout game.

It's not like soccer where the guys can just fall down and start crying, at least these guys have to put some thought into it. ;)

I laughed so hard about Sosa back then. Now I regularly hurt my back sneezing and it isn't so funny.

There will always be Tyler Bauer ripping his finger open messing with his drone.

John Smoltz hurting himself ironing his shirt while wearing it (though Smoltz has said that isn't what really happened, still hilarious to imagine though).

Normally, I just assume they really hurt themselves doing something they weren't supposed to be doing and just made up some BS excuse.

    Yes on Smoltz.

As to the other, let's just not ever talk about treadmills.

eta: we really need @bobrek here, he could tell us about how they got kicked by mules, and 3-fingers Brown had 4 fingers until....

The deer meat story was Clint Barmes. I think he tried to say that he hurt himself carrying groceries at first

Sunday, I walked into a wall of glass and blackened my eye and gashed my forehead. I can empathize.

That being said, I could pitch if need be.

Marty Cordova fell asleep in a tanning bed and then missed a week.

KRod hurt his hand punching his girlfriends father.

Francisco Liriano missed time slamming his arm in his car door.

Tony Gwynn accidently closed his car door on his hand and went to the DL.

Ryan Howard broke his toe in the on deck circle by dropping the bat weight on it.

I believe Mark Buerhle injured his hand opening a bottle of ketchup before his start.

I can't remember his name, but there was a pitcher on the Cards that injured his hand punching the bullpen phone in MMP during the 2004 or 2005 NLCS.

We need a list of 20 so we can mess with Blum:

I though we said we wouldn't talk about treadmills?

That destroyed that whole '99 season.
