Please.. enlighten me with predictive stats on the current crop of relievers the Astros have. What makes you think they are good enough against marquee opposition , when Yankees have added bats like Stanton and Torres, red sox have Martinez and a healthy betts, etc. Mentally, Giles is clearly not the guy. Harris and Smith are past it. Who can step up in save situations without loading the bases each time?

You cannot let up because you won 1 world series.... ie,never settle. The bullpen is a clear problem area, something all educated fans and exec's know we need to address, and this was an opportunity missed. It's nice to have Verlander, Cole and Morton lead the mlb in era, but its not something you count on to carry you through October.

    LOL wut?

Did it every occur to you that perhaps Morrow didn't want to come here? Of course you discount the part where he signed Hector Rondon (our newest closer) for pennies compared to what Morrow is making.

One of you OGs needs to get this scrub ass b**** out of here.

Joe Smith still in bullpen's rotation? He's been MIA for awhile....

Yea cuz Stanton has been killing it this year...

Pitchers will adjust to Torres and he will come back down to Earth as Judge did last year.

And Hinch definitely DID rely on JV and Morton, among other starters, to carry us through in Oct and if I recall correctly it seemed to work.

Anyways, not necessarily disagreeing with you that our BP could use an arm or two but coming out attacking Lunhow like you did is simply asinine and obtuse. The guy won a World Series and you’re upset he’s congratulating himself? Ok

Theres no attack unless you're hypersensitive. Never settle.

Did anyone see Ken Rosenthal on MLB Network this morning?

He learned from another GM that there were some injury concerns with Herrera. Last year Herrera had a strained forearm and missed some time. They showed the footage when it happened. He was shaking his arm out. Well a similar thing happened in one of Hererra's most recent appearances this year. He appeared to grimace and the trainers came out. He did not come out of the game but his velocity dropped to 92 mph for a couple pitches. He also gave up 2 walks in the inning which were his only walks given up during the season. He did throw one pitch at 96 mph after the trainer visit but his command was WAY off. Rosenthal said maybe the reason the Royals traded him so early was because of the injury risk.

After watching this, I'm not all that upset at missing out on Hererra.

I did not see that, but it is definitely intriguing.

The 6'7 guy we have striking out nearly half the guys he faces. Does that help?

    He's been on the DL

Harris actually leads the team in xFIP at 2.30. His SIERA is 2.37. His FIP is 2.36.

If Harris threw 99 with the results he has gotten over the past 3 years he'd be considered in the upper echelon of the league's relievers.

Harris, Devo, Rondon, Giles, McHugh, Peacock is really an elite bullpen, but I'd like another arm, especially a left handed one. Britton or Hand would be perfect. Then Abreu and we become the first team in MLB history with literally zero holes.

I'm skeptical that you're willing to be enlightened, but sure, Herrera's FIP would rank 7th in the Astros pen, ahead of only Joe Smith and Brad Peacock among relievers that have pitched 10 innings. His xFIP would also be 7th, ahead of Sipp, but peacock bests him in that regard. In short, if Giles and Harris are players you don't trust, Herrera probably shouldn't be either.

Still not certain who you are talking about but I am interested bc we need a closer. I googled CC Hooks roster and they have two 6'7" guys and one 6'6" guy all right handed that pitch. Of the three Forest Whitley comes closest to meeting your description as he is striking out more per inning than the other two. The other two are striking out about one per inning. I thought the Astros were planning on using Whitaker as a starter? Whatever the case is I think we need a for real closer for this years post season. We were extremely fortunate to win the WS last year without a shut down closer.

Not sure why the Astros have a 57-year-old actor playing in their system

Have you seen the Last King of Scotland? Who would even try to hit against him knowing that he'd murder you after the game?

Forrest Whitley. Yes, he will be a starter, but could come out of the pen for us this year.

Yeah, the Astros didn't need anybody at the trade deadline last season. Keuchel should have kept his mouth shut. We would have been just fine without that Verlander chump.

I'm more referring to the general b****ing about Keuchel like he's some serial malcontent, not the actual lack of trades in 2018.
