This. Troy has a better basketball feel than KJ ever did. KJ was just too stiff out there. TWill flows and just knows what to do.
Ummmmm. We're down three three starters and were playing the Suns......the Suns.....who are trying to lose, who have benched their best players. Do you realize what you were watching here? This was an NBADL game sis. You think this kid is going to help us in the playoffs? Don't get me wrong. I'm happy for the kid. From what I have researched he's got great character and good work ethic. And I think he belongs in the NBA. And I think he could develop very nicely in the next season or two. But you're going to extrapolate from this game that he can help us in the playoffs? Well hey......Beverley is an all star then. Let me remind you, Corey Brewer was averaging over 16 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals per game while playing slightly over 24 minutes and shooting 53% from the field and 59% from three after his first four games as a Rocket in 2014. Perspective. One game. Dleague level. There's a very simple reason why Troy can't help us in the playoffs. It's because we have two Achilles. 1. Not enough paint and rim defense. 2. Not enough playmaking shoot creators who can distribute the basketball. These are the two reasons we will go home without a title unless they are addressed in the next couple weeks. Troy Williams addresses neither issue. All that said, it's not personal towards Troy Williams. I'm glad he is here and I'm glad he performed well and I most certainly would give him more minutes after this performance because he deserves it. And I personally believe he could help us win in the playoffs if he continues his shooting AS LONG AS WE ADDRESS OUR TWO MAJOR FLAWS BEFORE THE PLAYOFFS BEGIN. Which is looking less and less likely every day. But I'm not giving up hope until the last game of the season. Because, contrary to what some of your buddies here think, I know that late season roster additions can make significant playoff contributions and help a team to a title. So until the last game of the season I'm holding out hope that we will add a defensive big and a perimeter player that can handle, create shots, sms distribute efficiently because we need those added skills to win a title.....THIS SEASON!
I love Capella. He's just not strong enough on either side of the ball, he brings the ball down way to much and tries to handle too much. He doesn't post up. He does: Catch lobs well, runs the court well, blocks shots when he helps, rebounds somewhat efficiently and has a great attitude.
This is the most glaring offensive issue as he just needs to go up immediately when he catches the ball. He started playing basketball late in his life, comparatively, so his game isn't refined. It will be interesting to see what happens in the offseason and in his 4th year with the Rockets.
As a kj fan I have to agree. While I think some consistent minutes would help kj a lot, Williams is a much more fluid ball player.
The Troy Williams signing was a really nice pickup for the Rox, the reality is a lot of players can indeed make it in the NBA however with so many guys available out there these diamonds in the rough just get lost in the sea of NBA hopefuls. So I would like to thank Grizz FO for first of all discovering Williams, and then being dumb enough to cut him after he proved he can ball. Maybe this is karma from the bball gods for the Rox signing Shaun Livingston, watching him torch everyone on SL and preseason and then cutting him for other guys just because they were already signed to a guaranteed minimum conttact.
jury is still out.. but he is looking like someone that can etch a place in the NBA. He is has the skills that can be developed and a motor and length that you cannot teach!
