Now I certainly don't think we have a chance of landing both Anthony and Paul, but this deal does bring up the point that with Yao's insured expiring (and international marketability), along with next year's NY pick, various youngsters (Budinger, Hill, Patterson, Williams), and other expiring veterans (Battier, Jeffries, Hayes) who can probably be bought out, the Rockets are in a position of adding two major pieces at the trade deadline. Anthony and Paul would be a stretch, but who else could we acquire?

That trade looks a lot better for Denver if you take out Ariza and replace him with West and Budinger.

Terrence William cannot be traded with a combination of another player.

Denver has also said that they're looking for 5 future 1st round picks. With this trade scenario, they only get 2 and a former 8th pick so i'm not sure how interested they would be.

While this trade would be freaking AWESOME, its highly unlikely, but crazier things have happened in the past (Kwame Brown for Pau Gasol).

New Orleans is getting robbed from a talent perspective in that deal. They would have to be absolutely desperate for financial relief, and even then they would probably rather look elsewhere than agreeing to pair up CP3 with Carmelo to a division opponent (as well as get some picks in the process).

    We don't have NYK's 2011 pick, and we can't trade our own 2011 pick. I guess they're referring to NYK's 2012 pick?

right now the rockets cannot trade the 2011, 2012 or 2013 first round picks picks because the team is not 100% guaranteed to have a pick in 2012 with the lottery protection on the knicks pick. They may wind up with 2 or none, but most likely they will have a pick but its not set in stone until the end of the 2011-2012 season.

this trade scenario would not work unless the 2011 pick is exchanged for a 2016 pick.

Correct, although they CAN trade the Knicks' 2012 draft pick obligation.

honestly who cares what Denver wants they are either going to take a good deal or maybe end with nothing. So they may have their targets high doesn't mean it is in anyway going to happen. At the same time you never know I guess. All I'm saying is sooner rather than later Denver will pull the trigger on something than end up with nada.

Denver would get the biggest shaft EVER in the history of NBA trades...this is just silly!

The answer is probably yes, but (assuming they could) would the Rockets even make this trade if Carmelo wasn't willing to sign an extension?
