I like it a lot for each team less the Suns.
They have drafted bigs for years now and they need to see playing time soon. Leur (PF) at 10 per for 3 yrs. doesn't help. Len's return to the Suns is a low first and clogged front court. Maybe just a little more sweetener for the Suns, please.

Now that we have Tucker and Moute, we can include Ariza in a package for Melo with minimal impact in our rotation. Tucker gives us pretty much everything that Ariza does (good defense across multiple positions, decent 3-pt shot when free) plus he is more athletic and better on the break. Moute is an excellent cover at the SF and PF spots.

HOU in: Anthony (2y/$26m) and Lee (3y/$12m)
HOU out: Anderson (3y/$20m), Ariza (1y/$7m), 1st round pick (to NYC)
Why HOU does it: Upgrade the PF spot with a legitimate star. Ariza is replaced in the lineup by Tucker. Lee provides additional 3&D (40% shooter) from the bench. Get rid off Anderson contract

NYC in: Harkless (3y/$10m), Leonard (3y/$10m), Frye (1y/$7m), Vonleh (1y/3m), Houston NGs/scrubs (TQ, SL, CO, IT), Cleveland 1st round, Houston 1st round
NYC out: Anthony (2y/$26m) and C. Lee (3y/$12m)
Why NYC does it: In essence, they turn $38m of long-term contracts (Melo, Lee) into $20m of long-term contracts (Leonard, Harkless), $11m of expirings (Vonleh, Frye), 2 young cheap talents (Onuaku, Taylor) and two 1st round picks. Next off-season they have an extra $18m in cap space plus 2 picks to improve their squad. Harkless is a decent starter for their team. Taylor, Onuaku may develop into useful pieces. Solid trade financially and gives them some hope for the future.

POR in: Anderson (3y/$20m), Jefferson (2y/$2.5m)
POR out: Harkless (3y/$10m), Leonard (3y/$10m), Vonleh (1y/3m)
Why POR does it: The turn $20m of unproductive long-term contracts (Leonard, Harkless) into $20m of relatively productive long-term contract (Anderson). They improve their PF spot and remove the logjam at SF. Aminu starts next to Anderson with Turner and Crabbe as wing back-ups. They can cut RJ or keep him for veteran leadership. The get significantly better at zero cost from a difficult financial position where improving the team is tough.

CLE in: Ariza (1y/$7m), Napier (1y/2m)
CLE out: Frye (1y/$7m), Jefferson (2y/$2.5m), 1st round pick (to NYC)
Why CLE does it: Ariza is a great upgrade in their rotation and a player they have coveted for some time. Lebron gets an additional play-maker in his own Heat pick, Napier. Not only they get much better on the court, but they also save some money in 2018.

    Houston team after trade:
    Paul/Harden/Tucker/Anthony/Capela
    Gordon/Lee/Moute/Nene/Black

    Who says no?

Phoenix Incoming: Ryno, Ariza, Onuaku, 2nd
    Phoenix Outgoing: Chandler, Knight

    Houston Incoming: Carmelo
Houston Outgoing: Ryno, Ariza, Onuaku 2nd

    New York Incoming: Knight, Chandler
    New York Outgoing: Carmelo

Houston would probably do it. New York doesn't come out too strapped with this, plus Tyson can let Porzingis play PF short term. Phoenix take on Ryno, which is offset a little by unloading Knight, and Ariza is a pretty good asset for Phoenix by providing veteran experience as well as being a trade chip at the trade deadline.

(First post so I can't link to the trade machine)

    HOU in: Anthony (2y/$26m)
HOU out: Anderson (3y/$20m), Quarterman (1y/$1.3m), Long (2y/$1.3m), 1st round pick (to NYC)
Why HOU does it: Acquire Melo while only using Anderson, NG's, and a pick.

NYC in: Favors (1y/$12m), Burks (2yr/$10.8m), Dellavedova (3y/$9.6m), Houston 1st round pick
NYC out: Anthony (2y/$26m) and C. Lee (3y/$12m)
Why NYC does it: Unload Melo AND Lee, receive a PG on a reasonable contract to run next Ntilikina while he matures as welll as Favors (expiring) and Burks (salary dump for Utah BUT it will expire sooner than Melo / Lee and has a much smaller cap hold), and of course the Houston 1st round pick.

UTA in: Anderson (3y/$20m), Vaughn (2y/$1.9m), Quarterman (1y/$1.3m), Long (2y/$1.3m)
UTA out: Favors (1y/$12m), Burks (2yr/$10.8m)
Why UTA does it: Unload Burks' contract and add Anderson to their new core which will be playing much more team-oriented basketball after losing their star Hayward. Utah already plays one of the most team oriented styles in the league, and placing Anderson next to a defensive big like Gobert will hide his weakness in that area. On offense he provides spacing and gives Rubio another shooter to dish to when creating on that end. They also save a bit of salary by taking the NG's.

    MIL in: Lee (3y/$11.7m)
MIL out: Dellavedova (3y/$9.6m), Vaughn (2y/$1.9m)
Why MIL does it: Bucks get to basically swap Dellavedova for Lee now with the emergence of Brogdon. Lee gives them a decent 3-and-D combo guard that could play SF in a small-ball lineup if needed. They also get to unload Vaughn.

Overall this looks like a winning trade for all the teams involved. Could easily sweeten the deal by potentially involving some more picks from the other teams, or swap out Burks for Johnson if the Knicks want more instant cap relief for summer 2018 (as long as the Jazz are okay with giving up old man Joe).

    Thoughts?

    Trade idea

    Rox get melo.
Knicks get B. Knight & Andrew Nicholson, 2nd rd pick, Llull
Suns get Lance Thomas, Trevor Booker
Nets get Ryan Anderson, NG fillers, 1st rd pick.

Nets take on Anderson bc they get to do their own salary dump with Nicholson and Booker so the net salary taken on is about 3yr/32 mil for Ryno. We attach a first to sweeten that. They take him also bc he helps their worst position on there offense improve which will help their young guys.

Phoenix looked to dump Knight at the trade deadline for the price of an expiring contract and two seconds. Here they get their expiring in Booker and a very good prospect in Thomas who is worth about 2 second rd picks.

Knicks get their point guard when they inevitably strike out on Kyrie and they get some sweeteners to take on Nicholson. They also get the benefit of not having the bad press of holding a player against his will.

Not thinking big enough, Anderson, NGs, rights to Llull and future 1st round picks for LEBRON!

Sign Melo after he's bought out because he won't waive that trade kicker after Rockets trade for Lebron.

I still think some version of this is going down....

    HOU: Melo (NYK)

CLE: Bledsoe (PHO) + Tyson Chandler (PHO) + Jared Dudley (PHO) + NYK 2018 1st (unprotected)

PHO: Ryno (HOU) + Iman Shumpert (CLE) + Frank Ntilikina (NYK) + Onuaku (HOU) + 2018 1st from CLE (unprotected) + 2020 1st from HOU (lottery protected) + future 2nd (2019 or 2021) from HOU

NYK: Irving (CLE) + TJ Warren (PHO) + Channing Frye (CLE) + HOU expirings (Long, Taylor, Quarterman) + rights to Llull (HOU) + rights to Gentille (HOU)+ rights to Todorovic (HOU) + $3M cash from HOU

That's complicated, but it works under the cap.
