Good suggestion. As it gets Minny Bazemore a guy Thibs could use. The question is, would ATL move Bazemore for a 1st round pick? That's basically what their upside is of the deal. I am not so sure, but it is not an automatic no.
Wolves get Bazemore, EGordon, Buddy Hield Hawks get Dieng/2 Firsts from Rockets Rockets get Butler/small filler Kings get 1 First from Wolves, 2 Firsts from Rockets and Knight
I love how people still come up with trade ideas that include the rights to Llull, as if the rest of the league isn’t aware we have tried to convince him to come every season the past few seasons.
Butler is the only option that could bring us close to the Dubs but if they aren't operating under good faith, I think this plan B isn't bad. I don't think there would be many picks in this deal. http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ycfy72e8
It's not bad considering our woes on defense, but it doesn't help us on offense. I will pass up on this idea.
3-Team Trade Cavaliers in: Brandon Knight, Marquese Chriss Heat in: J.R. Smith [2019-20 $3.87M partial guarantee] Rockets in: Kyle Korver, James Johnson
Honestly, not bad. See some issues. Atlanta would never do it. They are helping other teams out just for a 2nd round pick? And they are replacing Bazemore and Lin’s contracts (both players that they are using right now) for Zbo and Knights contracts (players they may not play). So you would have to give them more incentive. Also, I don’t see the interest Sac would have in Capela. They have WCS who isn’t as good yes, but I think they will be able to keep him and a much more friendly contract. This part is a toss up. But I do like what you did with Minny and Houston. Minny would get first rounders, a solid vet in EG and dump Dieng. Houston would get their Jimmy Butler as well as more players that could contribute. You definitely need more going Atlanta’s way.
I agree that Atlanta might want more to take on Knight. Bazemore is paid a ton for 3 years and doesn't bring to the table his value. Knight doesn't bring as much but would give you a break on salary and term of contract. It depends on if Atlanta is looking for a break in cash. My original post had a protected 1st round from Sac but as you stated, since they have WCS, I don't know that they'd want to invest that much money in a backup - but it is Sac and they love Cs. But yeah - might have to be a 5 team deal. I was going for the players we could use - 2 good wings and 2 good centers. Play Tucker at PF, Melo where you want and you have a good rotation of players that should be on the floor. .
Isn’t Bazemore only 2 years remaining on the contract? That would be the same length as Knight, and while it is more money, I feel he’s still utilized and that extra money wouldn’t matter much for the next two years to a team like Atlanta.
Small move that will pay off: Orlando has Amile Jefferson on a 2 way. His play at Duke was solid and been in the g league. He fills our need of a rebounding power forward on the cheap. Jefferson For 2nd round pick OR Edwards
This belongs here too At the trade deadline: Paul For Butler and Teague T pups get a return on Butler (at the last moment) & upgrade the point with Thibodeau approved player & some needed leadership —> Paul, KAT& Wig Rockets get out from under the super max with an aging player by turning him into the perfect Harden teammate in Butler plus a more than serviceable point to fill the void of Paul’s loss. We get younger and more versatile and extend our window. Harden, Butler & 3 2way super role players PLUS 6th man & flexibility to fill out the roster going forward.
