i read this rumor somewhere and the guy said he heard it on the radio, so i'm giving him the benifit of the doubt so i got some questions:

    1.who would do this deal?
    2.would this deal workout?
3.and i also heard that shariff was upset,so what about a deal like this?

    rockets get:
    othella harrington
    shariff abdur rahim

    grizzlies get:
    shandon anderson
    4.5 mil exception
    walt williams

    dream lineup:

    pf [IMG]thella harrington/kenny thomas
    sf:shariff abdur rahim/carlos rogers
    c :hakeem olajuwon/kelvin cato
    sg:cuttino mobley/draft pick???
    pg:steve francis/moochie norris

    ------------------
johnny "red" kerr:i'm glad the bulls did'nt draft steve francis.

    dan roan: why!!!!!

johnny red kerr:because he would forever be compared to michael jordan.

ahahahahah. Vancouver's got to be really stupid to do that trade. I'd trade Shandon, Walt, and the 4.5 million exemption for Shareef Abdur Rahim alone. With Othella Harington, DEFINATELY.

No way would Vancouver do this deal. By the way, I would not trade Walt for Othella straight up.

I like Othella, but I don't think he is more then a complimentary role player.

Williams is the same, but he is a better passer and shooter.

Shandon is one of your untouchables!!!

By trading Shandon, the Rockets will definatley trade all the good will that they have left!!!

Nobody would do a signing for the Rockets; of course realizing that the Rockets had no word. But, I would favor a deal to bring othella harrington back into Houston!!

Look at it this way, the Rockets got Shandon for way less than Market value, they didn't have to give up anything for him, plus they got a player who showed flashes of brilliance, oh and don't forget the defense. What's he costing the Rockets, practically nothing in NBA terms.

DON'T TALK ABOUT TRADING SHANDON, THIS IS STARTING TO BE A PET PEEVE OF MINE.

SHANDON IS AS UNTOUCHABLE AS STEVE FRANCIS!!!!!!

    I agree Vince !!

The only way the Rockets could trade Shandon is if Shandon, WANTED to be traded.

The Rockets are an organization that players respect and want to play for, they would blow all of that in one fell swoop if they traded SA.

As far as that Rahim deal, there is no way thats going to happen.

The more realistic possibility, Walt Williams for Othella Harrington, I'll pass. I liked how Othella Harrington used to provide a spark and play hard, but he has some major faults to his game that will prevent him from being anything more than a backup. Harrington is too much of a blackhole on offense, his passing is non-existant and his defensive instincts are below average. I would much rather play Kenny Thomas than Othella Harrington.

I like Harrington and love his contract but I don't think Vancouver needs Williams. They could however use Drew but no way do they deal Harrington for him. There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Harrington this offseason and because of his salary, his value has been inflated. For example if Orlando doesn't get their power forward in this year's draft, they can trade for Harrington and not have to worry about him taking up much of their FA cap room that they are going to use to go after the Hill's and Duncan's with.

I would trade Walt for Oth, especially if we draft a SF and Oth contract doesn't escalate like Walt's over the next few years. Walt's contract completely sucks for what he can contribute to us.

Unless we wanted to blow our credibility (we don't) Shandon can only be traded if he wants to play elsewhere. That said if he was the missing piece to a Raheem deal (I can't really see it though) it would be hard not to send him along.

I believe Walt will be a free agent after this year. He is in the last year of a contract.

Why not trade the #9 for Othella Harrington? Harrington is a proven NBA player and has a great contract.

Davo's page has Walt salary over 6 million for 2001-2002. That is a figure I want to obliterate by any mean neccesary.

    Sky Pilot,

I love O, but I don't know that he fits the new system. As stated in this or another thread, he is not conducive to ball movement ala Kevin Willis. Plus, we might be able to get someone at 9 that fills a specific need and/or has a much higher ceiling. If we were to trade our 9 (with or without other concessions) it should be for B. Grant, B. Outlaw, or even A. Mason.

Skypilot- I hope you're not serious about trading the #9 for Harrington. That would be about the worst trade in NBA history. I don't even feel like going into how bad that would be for Houston. If we're trading the #9 pick, go after one man alone. Brian Grant. He is who we need. And with Portland choking, they'll probably be looking to reload a little. It might work.

Don't mess with Shandon Anderson. That's the glue for the Rockets future.

#1 - THERE IS NO WAY WE CAN LAND BRIAN GRANT WITH THE #9.

#2 - The player we draft at #9 is not guaranteed to produce. If you look at past #9 picks, there is about a 30% failure rate.

#3 - Harrington would not be a starter here, he would be a backup; another body to battle the Malone's, Duncan's, O'Neal's, etc.

#4 - Harrington has a really cap friendly contract which makes him extra valuable.

#5 - Saying that trading the #9 for Harrington the worst trade in NBA history is a very ignorant comment.
