Barwin joined Wade in LA, FYI. If it all went down like you predict it will, I'd be ecstatic. None of it has happened yet though. You know what they say about counting chickens before they hatch...
This is why I want Deshaun. I have no confidence in this coaching staff's ability to develop young QBs. Deshaun is the most ready.
his arm strength concerns me; I think he was clocked at 49 MPH? Plus the INTs in a QB friendly system
Who gives a ****? So randomly meaningless. You know how long it'd take him to learn a hard count? 2 seconds. I wouldn't know this dude if he was sitting in my lap and I've seen exactly 0.0 seconds of footage - but I'm going to guess he played in the shotgun in college and if I'm right, there would've been almost ZERO need for a hard count.
Yeah, but he "just winz", who cares about things like being able to throw a football at an NFL level?
I agree, teaching someone a hard count isn't exactly rocket science. Leads me to believe he just hasn't been exposed to it.
I think the point was showing that he's had almost no exposure to running a pro style offense whatsoever so it's just hammering home how much you'd have to teach him before he could get on the field. If he has no clue about some of the more simple things, there's no way he knows any of the more complex things.
Easy to learn what a hard count is... The major issue is that if you don't know the most basic of things (my 11 year old nephew knows what a hard count is)... Then it leads me to believe you need years of grooming and studying and learning before being ready to have any impact. And it doesn't matter if he played in a system that utilizes a hard count or not, every person here knows what that is, and Mitchell should know it as well.
That's not the point. Students of the position should already know the basic concepts of said position. Him not knowing it raises red flags on if he is a student of the position or another David Carr, trying to skate by on talent alone.
James Conner fits us so much better than Mack, and he'll probably go after Mack. Conner is the perfect fit for what we need. I've been saying it for two years now... I expect our scouts to be in Pittsburgh tomorrow. Conner, Peterman, Johnson, Bisnowaty, Orndorff, and Ejuan Price literally are ALL in play for the Texans, in my opinion. I watched a lot of Pitt football over the last two years, and any of them would be good on this team. Peterman is probably the guy I'd least prefer just because he doesn't do anything that's terribly sexy for a quarterback. He's just solid at everything. Basically a Savage clone. Orndorff, Bisnowaty, Price, and Conner could all be real steals.
Any idea on Matt Ryan's velocity? I can't find much except for this-http://www.espn.com/blog/atlanta-fa...tt-ryan-dug-deeper-to-prepare-for-2016-season. I remember some of the same questions about his arm strength as well as the 19 interceptions he threw in his last year at BC. He also only completed 59 percent of his passes as a senior. Ryan did play in more of a pro-style system though if I remember correctly. Predicting quarterbacks has always been so very difficult and now it is even worse. Here's a different take on the velocity readings-http://www.dawgsbynature.com/2015/3/27/8299991/the-myth-of-quarterback-velocity
