There was 300 of them and one of him. Don't clubs usually have a like an off duty cop working for them?
There was a cop who exchanged gunfire with him outside, but he was able to get into the club. I'm just wondering what the best course of action is when you're in that situation. You don't want to get shot, so you run away. But you also don't want to be a sitting duck. Do you run or try to fight back in the chaos?

With 300 people in there most of the people probably didn't even see the shooter and it was likely dark in there. Trying to escape would seem like the only logical action .
http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/orl...hooter-n590496 From the father: Mateen, who was carrying a handgun and AR-15-type rifle, died after a SWAT team stormed the club, police said. The shooter, who worked in security, according to the family, had active security officer and firearms licenses, records show. Because of his name and heritage, there were immediate questions about Mateen's possible ties to Islamic fundamentalism — but his father said it may have been a recent incident involving two men showing each other affection that set the gunman off. "We were in Downtown Miami, Bayside, people were playing music. And he saw two men kissing each other in front of his wife and kid and he got very angry," Mir Seddique, told NBC News on Sunday. "They were kissing each other and touching each other and he said, 'Look at that. In front of my son they are doing that.' And then we were in the men's bathroom and men were kissing each other." "We are saying we are apologizing for the whole incident," Seddique said. "We weren't aware of any action he is taking. We are in shock like the whole country." Seddique added, "This had nothing to do with religion."
NOt necessarily, his rhetoric could come off as exploitative, distasteful, and expose him as charlatan (that he is). I don't think it would help his cause, considering a number of people in his base are vigorously anti-LGBT, themselves. Let's not look to far over at places, like North Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Georgia, and Tennessee. Example below: http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheats...xas-lt-gov-tweets-man-reaps-what-he-sows.html It's not necessarily a rallying cry, nor should it ever be. The shooter doesn't have motive, yet. But, we can say it was definitely anti-LGBT, at least. Regardless, if he is White, Muslim, Christian, or Republican, it's easy to realize that some people in this country really loathe LGBT people, enough to murder them without regards.
I love how they point out that he's a democrat, as if it ****ing matters. What's his favorite color???
Agree and thank you for moving the politics where they belong. Folks, we should just start all these mass shooting threads in D&D. Shootings have nothing in common with pop culture, gorditas, random humor, etc. I've never thought these threads made any sense in the hangout at all.
Ugh. I don't ever like to get into politics/religion, but why does it always seem to be the same people doing this???
fwiw Patrick has scheduled Bible verse tweets almost every Sunday, doubt this was in reference to last night's attack
How the **** does that work? You see something that you don't like and don't want around your children. So in order for your child to grow in up in a better world in your opinion, you kill a bunch of people knowing you will also inevitably die or go to prison forever leaving your child a fatherless, traumatized child. But, he knows to hate gays. Problem solved? I don't understand how the minds of these people work.

Oh well. I guess I mean, ATW, thanks for trying to move the politics to where they belong. Some people are just too excited to simply click on a different forum.
People aren't very logical, nor are they good readers of future events and consequences. People are almost often too emotional and reactive to understand the unfortunate nature in impeding others or even killing them in the process, because they don't like who they are or what they look like. It's still an unfortunate world, we live in, because people think that our country is really bad when it comes to mass murders, senseless violence, and extreme chaos against people of different nationalities, races, religions, or alternative lifestyles. But, there are many people across the world who harbor the same feelings and intent. Though, our country tends to do a poor job with everything else, especially with mental health and fueling regressive rhetoric. It sort of allows people to feel complacent or confident enough to carry such despicable acts against other human beings.
