Guys, it's an obvious plant by the Heat to drive up Shaq's value.

    Chill.

Thats what I was thinking. Heat 1st, Hawks 1st, both unprotected? Could be something tasty in the future. But Nash needs to win now.

The Suns better pray Shaq has some gas in the tank left, or that this will revitalize his career.

I can see why each team would it, it's just surprising the big names involved.

Why would Marion opt out from getting paid 17.1 mill? What kind of new contract is he expecting?

Shaq to Suns should be a dream come true for a Suns fan. They can still run when they need to and this actually gives them a half court presence which they have missed ever since ohhhhhhh I'd say the Charles Barkley era. Everyone always faults the Suns for only being an up and down run and gun team which is the demise for not winning a championship. Shaq= problem solved.

Seriously, They can still run when they need to and a half court with Nash feeding Shaq with Grant Hill running the baseline and making cuts, Amare being Amare, and Barbosa and Bell spotting up for 3's. WOW

This is nonsense. No way the Suns give up Marion for Shaq and also absorb Shaq's remaining contract. Totally bogus.

Who else would want an oft injured bloated salary Shaq other then contending teams that will try to match with the Lakers getting Gasol?

    Utah, nope.

    Hornets, can't see them.

    Blazers, nope.

Spurs, nope, no interest in their players outside of the big 3.

Dallas, nope they have enough big bodies, prolly the team that matches up well with the new Lakers.

    Denver, maybe

GS, can't see them wanting shaq

East contending teams, doesn't really matter, outside of Boston and Detroit getting him which I don't think they'll try

This move would torpedo the Suns pretty damn fast. It's not that I don't think Shaq can put up respectable (15/9 maybe?) numbers anymore--it's the thinking that he's not healthy enough to put up respectable numbers anymore. And talk about slowing your team's uptempo offense to a screeching halt.

If the suns are serious are about this deal, I can see them being crazy enough to rest shaq for a majority of the of the regular season this year and have him ready for the playoffs.

With shaq in the paint, that vastly improves their defense. Nobody will penetrate through the suns' D expecting an easy layup with the diesel in there. They'll also be able to gamble more in the passing lanes or put pressure on the ball handler.

Maybe it could work. If they pick up the first from Miami, they should have 2 solid players on rookie contracts (they also have Atlanta's first) to help offset the contract of Shaq. And sure, the LT is a reality after a trade like this, but Shaq is going to bring in a lot of dollars by himself. Also, if memory serves me correctly, Shaq's contract ends at the same time D-Wade, Carmelo and Lebron's end.

On the basketball side of things, Shaq isn't going to play the same kind of minutes he has in the past, maybe 25. With him out, nothing is different with the run and gun game and that's about half the time. With him in, you've got an elite halfcourt low-post player (when healthy), surrounded by 3-point shooters. That seems to work pretty well, just ask Hakeem. They don't have to completely abandon the fast breaking style when he is in, because, in most cases, he will be initiating the break off of rebounds. You've also got a pretty solid defensive center to throw up against the traditional bigs such as Yao and Duncan.

Well at least if this trade goes down we can renew the Shaq vs Yao rivalry.

If there's any merit to this rumor all I can say is this is a definite head-scratcher.

This is a vintage Rocket's trade. Is Matt Maloney involved in this deal someway? How about a carload of ole Knicks? Moochie, are you part of this?

    This is a good trade!

Suns are fast. They need some speed balance. They need a guy to slow them down. They need a guy can fill their wide open paint!

    do it.

Miami must be sending their first rounder for this. Why else would the Suns take on a washed up Shaq for 2 more years? Marion is still perfect in the Suns offense. This has got to be BS.
