Kevin Love signs 4-year, $120M extension with Cleveland

So much for the "rumors" here that we were going to get him lol.

 

Fast forward to February when the Cavs have won about 20 games and accept that they should just dump salary and go full-on tank mode / youth movement.

And that's when we unleash the Ryno upon the city of Cleveland.

 

Seems like a good deal for Love. He'll get the max for the next 3 years while he puts up big stats on a losing team, then when his deal becomes a better value he can be moved to a contending team.

See, Morey? Koby Altman did something. Will you do something?

 

Those fake rumors will resurface on CF in 2 years. I would bet money on it.

Well that's a wild ass signing. Didn't see it coming, but I guess it makes sense in that Cleveland can't really sign top players in free agency. Their only other option is to rebuild from scratch. If they think they can continue to sneak into the playoffs and gain additional revenue maybe this makes sense financially if not basketball wise?

Not that Codman needs to have defenders, but i think sometimes people assume that everything he says is from the sources he has, i think some things Cod posts are also his opinions based on what he hears, like, he hears that Love might be moved and he says that would be great to have him in Houston, or like when he talked about Okafor cause he likes those old school kind of bigs, same for Moose/Monroe...

As for me Love didn't make sense here from the moment we were after Melo again, and i also don't know how we would've traded for him if not with Gordon and multiple picks/assets which personally, wasn't a step in the right direction.

 

You answered your own question in the first sentence of your post. Why WOULDN'T he do this?

 

Ya. especially with his injury history..he is set for 5 more years. he knows there's a good chance the warriors will win a few more championships in the next 2-3 years...might as well get paid during those years..

 

It also makes sense bball wise because they are paying guys a lot of money to totally tank. If they let Love go they lose an asset for nothing. They are still paying big money to George Hill, JR Smith, Thompson and Clarkson big money so might as well keep Love.

 

And make the playoffs!

This signing really makes no sense to me at all. I guess they felt they could get left with absolutely nothing, zilch.

Is T. Lue under contract there? Wondering if they should get like a college genius for a while.

 

I hear that but isn't it going to be hard to trade that almost-max contract? I mean, until it's an expiring.
