This is a really good idea. Since we are hurting at safety and kind of deep at CB this could be a gamechanger for the defense.

Don't see it happening, but good idea regardless

Not playing in the preseason is not a big deal. Preseason is only for rookies/2nd year players, and fringe guys. JJo knows the system and knows all the tricks in the book. He's just lost a step and practice will not bring that back.

Kevin Johnson is the 7th highest rated first rounder so far this year according to PFF

This article shows the rating and a little description for each of the 32 first round picks at this point in the season. Kevin Johnson’s 76.4 is behind Amari Cooper (WR, pick 4, 77.7), Leonard Williams (DE, pick 6, 84.5), Todd Gurley (RB, pick 10, 80.2), Arik Armstead (DE, pick 17, 78.1), Byron Jones (CB, pick 27, 78.4), and Damarious Randall (CB, pick 30, 76.7). And unlike a couple of those ahead of him, Kevin Johnson was noted to have had a bit of a slow start and is solidly on the upswing.

Yeah but Randall and Jones are CBs that scored higher and were picked after Johnson. :)

I'm very impressed with how well he's playing as a rookie. Rookie CBs, regardless of how highly touted they are, rarely play well in their rookie year.

Very true. If he takes the huge leap that some CB's make in their second season he could become one of the elite CB's in the game.

I like that he seems to be a smart player. That's the difference between the average corner and the best corners in the game, the best corners beat you with their intelligence. Knowing tendencies, routes, and game situations.

Kareem jackson is an average corner. My knock on him is that he doesn't seem to have a high football IQ. Too many PIs called, and too often blown coverage leading to scores. Kevin Johnson does not have the physical traits of kareem, but he can be better than him by virtue of his intelligence.

I know he is a rookie and I hope he gets better but Kevin Johnson gets called for a lot of pass interference calls himself. He's had like 6 this year.

what's that saying? your reputation precedes you. Now that the nfl is taking notice that we are a glorious defense, they will allow us to get in an extra tap past the five yards. they will allow our dbs to be more agressive. you saw it some in the N.O game.

He got torched yesterday, but I thought he showed a lot of poise and mental toughness by the way he bounced back. He's gonna be fine.

Really wish he would have stepped in front of that pass in the 4th quarter and made a house call, but great that he showed he's fearless and can shake off a bad play (or 3) and still compete out there to make plays.

He wasn't torched at all. Had damn good coverage on both TDs. Both were great throws and catches. Is it impossible for you guys to give any credit to the opposition at all?

KJ2 is so much better than KJ1 the comparison is laughable. KJ1 would have fallen down on those TD passes not been a nano second late with his right hand to deflect them whilst in perfect position.
