I am of the mind that tearing down a second round pick, a 7-2 Chinese Rookie drafted by the Houston Rockets, a couple weeks into their career, is something that a Dallas Mavericks fan would do.

A Maverick fan with no context of what it means to be from China and welcomed to the NBA and the city of Houston.

LOL. Once again, I didn't say adding strength wouldn't help him. I did say learning to understand and speak English better would help his confidence more. LOL.at the rest of the "lack of knowledge" stuff. His game will come around nicely when his communication skills increase. He should be:

    1. Shooting threes ad nauseam
    2. Studying video with an interpreter and the coaching staff to learn the offense, his role, and the play calls and options.
    3. Practicing pick and roll and pick and pop with the coaching staff.
    4. Working on defensive rotations and switches with the coaching staff.
    5. Working on his core.

    In that order.

Lifting is absolutely a factor in helping fix his confidence issues.

    So no, you are wrong.

    1. Power Cleans
    2. Power Cleans
    3. Power Cleans
    4. Power Cleans
    5. A Zillion threes.

If he doesn't know how to pick and roll, or pick and pop by now, we are in serious trouble. The fact of the matter is that he can do those things already. He needs strength to be able to do them in an NBA game, or even an NBA DLeague game.

You realize if the other Rockets shot the ball like Qi in Phoenix

    The score would be

    Phoenix 116
    Rockets 0

Qi is the only Rockets player who missed all his shots.
And it was against Phoenix garbage time players not even their starters.

It's always good that he shows up because that means it's a blowout.

as if this matters, the phx "starters" were the reason there was even a garbage time

Not that simple. He has to know whether to roll or pop and which direction to roll and pop depending on the defensive alignment. Not to mention setting screens, etc. He had to know the plays, identify the call, and be able to read the defense and take the right option.

You're wanting to develop him the way we developed (or better yet didn't develop) Terrence _ones. We're not playing power basketball.

Have the last word. I've made my points here for now.

I'd like to see Zhou get better at grabbing the basketball. There have been many times where his hands weren't strong enough to secure the ball. It is not so much about adding weight, but functional strength.

Basketball is a very simple game, and Zhou is a very intelligent, skillful guy. Getting him to understand and recognize coverage is going to be the easy part, locking him in an NBA weight room is where the real grind is, and where the character and confidence will be made.

Terrence Jones has a small brain, and no amount of film study was going to help that. Not sure where or why you are making that silly correlation.

My guess would be on TV or streaming service but hey - it would be nice if we could all make it to a game in person this season.

Yes, and If Hakeem shot like Billy Paultz we wouldn't have 2 rings.

That doesn't mean I don't love me some Billy Paultz, because I am a Houston Rocket fan. Zhou seems to be a hardworking, good kid, with nice potential for a second round pick. End of story.

The rookie hate reminds me of being back around bandwagon Laker fans in CA. Embarrassing.

The other rookie sucks too - Hartenstein

reality knows no country only buckets

Hartenstein doesn't get a thread like this with people defending his perceived work ethic based on what he looks like

I'm sure if one Laker fan tells another Laker fan that Lonzo couldn't shoot they'd agree

Clutchfans has turned into a cesspool of player only fans and delusional fans who forget that basketball is played on the court

What country did Hasheem Thatbeet come from? I don't care. He sucked

And Qi has sucked so far lately, yeah, of course he has potential, that's why he's getting paid millions of dollars and getting important playing time which he really didn't earn

Because he doesn't have billions of people on his back depending on his success. Zhou Qi being in the US, playing in the NBA is a massive deal for many reasons. Not only that, but Hartenstein is much further behind in his development compared to Zhou.
