Nope, not bringing in an OC. McClain say "Won't surprise me if Tim Kelly calls plays next year" but adds "O'Brien loves coaching Watson & calling plays." If Easterby tries to separate himself from Bill, he'll be gone. See what happened to Rick, what happened to Brian. Says Romeo will "retire." "I don't know if that's his decision or not." ... Points to Anthony Weaver as potential in-house replacement
weird he so confident, but say he doesn't know if BOB has met with Cal? wouldnt the firing come after he meets with he owner?
It is inexcusable. Its a situation that happens almost every game. You are in the division round of the playoffs and don't have a play in your pocket for exactly that situation. This is probably why he almost always calls a run up the middle in those situations (like Buffalo) because he is unprepared. Just another data point out of hundreds that shows his incompetence.
This is so depressing. Cal is basically the total opposite of Jerry Jones. Jerry wants all the attention and makes all the decisions. Tough or not. Cal just doesn’t want to be seen nor does he want to make any type of tough decision so he just sits back and let others (BOB) do everything.
I mean, my goodness... run the Texans into the GROUND; fine. They deserve it. But please do not hold the Houston frickin' Rockets up as some bastion of franchise excellence. The Rockets are an exceedingly mediocre organization.
If you want to have a genuine conversation we can. Comparing the Rockets team that won 65 games and had a 3-2 lead and home court advantage and had just won two straight is absurd. No one is going to take you serious. Also, the Rockets had home court advantage in that series, they didn't need to win another game on the road in that series.... even though they had already won on the road in that series. The Texans best showing as a franchise the last 10 years has been getting blown out in the divisional round by the Patriots and Chiefs. The Texans have never even been to a conference championship game.... while ever single other team in their division has.
Nook- have you heard any rumblings of the Texans atleast thinking of firing Obrien . I just dont get the reason he stays..
I have inside information the Texans are going to use analytics on play calling next year. I have a leaked version 1 of their new first down play calling flow chart.
The Rockets were five wins away from winning a championship. It is certainly the closest they've been since 1997 - but there was still a long way to go. THEY WOULD'VE BEATEN CLEVELAND!! Right.... because the Rockets delivering in the postseason is EXACTLY what we've come to expect from them the past 20 years...... Sorry, right. I was wrong. So the Rockets were a hamstring injury away from still having to win 1 of 2 games - one of which was on the road - against the NBA's most dominant team... in the *conference* finals. And you want us to take you seriously?... The Texans' best showing as a franchise the last 10 years was losing by seven points, on the road, with a 3rd string rookie QB in the divisional round of the playoffs. And thus.... the Texans were as much an injury away from a title as the Rockets.
If Anthony Weaver replaces Romeo that’s fine I really want Kris Richard but if not Weaver played for and coached under Rex Ryan hopefully he’s as aggressive as him as a DC as well. It’s the Tim Kelly or O’Brien calling plays that kills me. Bring in a young real offensive mind and let him coach up the offense and call plays.
Hope you're not insinuating that Jerry is a better owner because of this. Cal made a pretty huge decision in firing Gaine and attempting to poach Caserio in the middle of the off season last summer. Unfortunately his guys completely botched it but we'll see how he handles this off season.
Wait, what? This is why you're considered a Texans apologist. I don't like much about the Rockets, their style of play, Harden, their leadership, or anything else. But the 2011 Texans were playoff afterthought playing in the league's quarterfinals and trailed for virtually the entire game. Had they won that game, they still had to go play the #1 seed and league's dynasty team in the Patriots, along with an NFC team that was 13-3 or 15-1. That Rockets team was a #1 seed with an MVP candidate and led 3-2 in the league's semifinals against the team considered the best in the league. If they won that series, they had to just beat a #4 seed Cleveland team to win a championship. Saying those two scenarios are similar is beyond ludicrious. You always insist you are not a Texans-apologist, but when it really comes down to it, you always revert back to these nonsensical claims that always try to prop up the Texans.
Thank you. I should have learned by now. He is never going to change. He is a Texans apologist that comes up with bizarre contorted facts to justify his odd positions.
That is a tough one. The McNair's have had the Texans for 18 years and haven't come remotely close to winning a Super Bowl. Jerry Jones has won three Super Bowls in his thirty years but hasn't done anything in a long time. He has basically been the Texans for 20 years.. he wins his divisional titles and then loses in the wild card or divisional round of the playoffs.
The Rockets have been in the conference finals 2 of the last 5 years. The Texans have never made it to the conference finals in their entire existence. In fact, no football team from Houston has made it to the conference finals in 41 years.
