[rQUOTEr]“We express our apologies to Houston Astros fans, our partners at the Houston Astros ball club, along with Major League Baseball for inadvertently releasing the new Astros t-shirts in limited quantity,” Academy Sports and Outdoors CEO/president Rodney Faldyn said Friday in a press release. “We take pride in our ongoing partnership with the Astros, and this oversight is not our standard business practice.” According to Academy, a limited quantity of shirts bearing the new logo were released at Houston-area locations. The product was removed and is no longer for sale.[/rQUOTEr]
I thought Crane said we were going to mix the old with the new. It looks like we are just pulling our old hats out of the closet and jerseys from the 60s without the shooting star. I like them...but it is a little like joining Columbia House...you just think there was something more you were supposed to get but didn't.
The new is the star having a slightly different shade of orange on one half. It's very social media icon-looking. I think it's kind of dumb that they did that - it's a design trend that wont hold-up forever. They should have just used the old version. But overall, I like it - especially over the current logo/unis.
i forget what brand, i think upperdeck, but in the early 90's when i used to collect cards, one year they included a hologram of a team logo in each pack. that's what this reminds me of.
I like the H, but the star bothers me more and more every time I look at it. Either one of these would have been better. Just keep it simple.
Them and every single team that has tried to keep something like this secret in the time of the internet. Name a time in recent years when a team's new logo or uniforms didn't leak?
Found these after I read in the Chron article about where the leak came from: http://www.footballfanatics.com/MLB_Houston_Astros/search/astros iphone
leaks are inevitable, we are actually only a few days from the unveiling so its not that bad... i remember seeing the marlins leaks last year, the nets leaks.. these leaks arent even fault of the organization. topps, academy, footballfanatic.com displayed stuff that shouldnt have been shown yet..
They needed to change it just enough to differentiate from the old logo, you can thank Tango Blast and Houstone for that.
Disagree big time. New logo looks much better than the alts you posted. I think new Astros mgmt did a fine job! Kudos!
It's a little nitpicky to like the old logo and not like the new one. It's damn near identical, or certainly close enough to be irrelevant. I think all 3 on this page look nice and classy. If I was forced to pick one I'd go with the new one as well.
