Well the beveling isn't what makes it Texas-y, since the Rangers logo has shadows, not bevels. It's the fact that it's a round logo with simple letter that makes it so Texas-y. That and the fact that, in my opinion, this makes the Astros more "western/Texas-ish" than their previous look. It's, in essence, the same template as the Rangers. I really think the Astros should have differentiated themselves a little more (which is what the previous open star accomplished). This new retro look isn't bad, and I'm sure everyone will get used to it (it took a little bit to get used to the previous identity), but overall it's still a bit bland -- which was a common complaint of the retro logo years ago before everyone started getting nostalgic.
I misspoke but it was the roundness of the logo not the beveling. The first thing that struck me when I saw the new logo was that looks like the Rangers'.
Academy supposedly put the nee shirts with the logo on shelves before quickly takin them down and someone took a pic... https://mobile.twitter.com/astromo1977/status/261911742957895683/photo/1 I dont know how to embed...
im not sure you understand what a bevel is.. there is no bevel in the rangers logo.. i see a shadow and a roundel...
Will fit in nicely with the other round team logos in the AL West: Rangers (posted previously) A's Spoiler Mariners Spoiler Come one, Angels!! Spoiler I like the retro look, although I did really like the open star. Can't wait to see the official unveil of the unis!
Here is a cap mock-up I made. I even tried to make the logo look like it it stitched as part of the cap instead of making it look like a computer-generated logo pasted on to a real cap. Anyway, should I adjust the orange color and make it less bright? Should I make the logo smaller? Any suggestions are appreciated:
Definitely loving the revisions. That star may always be a little odd to me, but I can get used to it, unlike the Rockets logo.
