That all may be true, but - each of those three have completely different styles to their games. On THIS Rox team Varejao would be the best fit IMHO - of the three mentioned. Or find me a Brand clone...please.
I wish the Rockets could move from "adequate" to "excellent." I know they don't have the money for "outstanding," (or do they?), but, surely, they can move beyond "adequate" in choosing the supporting cast. Since Yao and TMac have been together, commentators on the major sports networks have repeated the same thing every year, "the Rockets can't seem to surround Yao and TMac with the right supporting cast." Could we change that tune, please, Mr. Morey?
The problem with this situation is that we're not "choosing," we're "finding." There just isn't any jaw-dropping PF out there who's remotely attainable by us, IMO. We simply don't have the assets to go get an Elton Brand type. Varejao isn't far off from our ceiling with the assets we have, but I don't think that's really as bad as people here make it out to be...
No doubt, getting MJ back is good, and no, the team is not bad, but we don't appear to be contender status either. The West is so talented, we need a strong PF at least. Not a star, but a legit NBA starter. The Elton Brand types are obviously out of the question, but we don't need a bench player.
someone should compile varejao's career numbers against duncan and boozer. That should give us alot more insight on this guy. I'd do it if I knew how.
