Didn't he have a stint in the WWE?
Carlito from the WWE
He could be useful in giving Yao some help against the stronger guys, he can hit them with a chair.
this is from the Akron Beacon: Based on my read of the winds at the Q, the Cavs won't be going to the wall to keep Anderson Varejao. The buzzword these days is flexibility, I think the Cavs would rather let him walk than pay him crazy money (like, say, $8-$10 a year as has been predicted by some). But it is going to be hard to determine what he's worth because there aren't comparable players. That said they would prefer to sign him. Read the story for a complete understanding.
He'd be good at the same role and for the same price as he currently is, but full MLE, or a starter....no way. I'd much rather have Darko, if that is an option. Interesting to see that Cleveland could trade Gooden and lose Varejao. Not exactly all-star PF's there, but better than the Rocket's duo was last year. They, too, have few other trading pieces and no cap room. Wonder what their management plans to do to improve?
Varejao will sure get more than MLE this summer. But how much? I dont know. Varejao is a legit double double player if he plays starter minutes. Sam Dalembert gets paid rediculously for 10 mils per. Varejao may not be that lucky because he may need a S&T for anything more than MLE. But those almighty player agents will certainly get something more than MLE. Average 7 per mil at least is my good guess.
Definitely not my first choice but I suppose if he agrees to sign for the MLE you can't really say no.
Might as well shoot for Reggie Evans since he doesn't get much burn in Denver anymore. Let's not say we don't need a PF who can score, becasue we do need one. Enough of this specialist crap in a league where that stuff no longer works.
I agree...in fact where would san antonio be without the offensive contributions of elson and oberto!
Oberto can actually hit a mid range jumper, but he doesn't shoot it to the point where he's detrimental to his team. Elson has been a big part of the Spurs run this year. He can cut to the bucket and put the ball in the hole without looking like a stiff. Varejao flops far too much, and furthermore I wouldn't compare what he's done to a couple of guys who has aided a team in winning a championship.
NO WAY!!!! He is a soft player, lots of energy and showmanship but lacks in substance. I noticed in the playoffs that the ball bounced right past him and he didn't get down to even make any effort to get the ball. Also there were times when he didn't make an effort to get the rebound, as though he had lead in his shoes. Quite the opposite type PF to that which the Rockets need IMHO
Maybe, maybe not, but one thing's for sure: the guy knows more about the NBA than 98% of the people on this board are ever likely to, and that includes me. I'd be listening to him if I was you.
he would be an great addition if we cant get anyone else for the MLE. If everyone is off the market then he wouldnt be that bad. I can forsee him pissing off boozer and okur with his flops. What better way to play then to flop the flopper? (Vera on Okur) And his size is a big advantage compared to hayes. Would be nice to see him next to yao, everyone may think flops are bad, but at the end of the day what matters the most is the W.
If the stories are true, he's a dirty player, not someone i would welcome to the team. Yes we have enough "nice" guys, but I'd rather have that than an *******, flopping afro. He belongs in Utah, end of discussion.
