During his weekly podcast broadcast today (http://espn.go.com/ ... look under Sports Guy on the home page), Simmons interviews Barkley. Good, humorous interview (as to be expected with those two guys). About half way through when talking about teams they feel have the best chance to win the championship this year (both picked the SPURS), the both quickly dismissed the ROX. Not any discussion behind it.

I am not one of the folks who subscribe to the idea that Barkley and Kenny have an anti-ROX bias on TNT... but it was interesting how Barkley didn't even acknowledge Houston's chances.

Interesting discussion at the beginning of the podcast, they talk about the 97 ROX with the Dream, Clyde and Barkley and compared them to the current Celtics.

Sorry if this has already been posted.

Quick, lock the thread before tinman starts foaming at the mouth. ;)

Oh wait, Barkley never won a championship with Houston. Never mind, carry on then.

Team A hasn't made the 2nd Round of the playoffs since 1997.
Hint, in 1997 that team had Charles Barkley.

    Can anyone name that team?

there are two types of Rocket fans on Clutchfans.

    1. Those who have experience Clutch City ( 2 years 2 rings)
    2. Those who have not experienced Clutch City.

    Group 1:
    Knows that respect is earned.
    Group 2:
Thinks respect is deserved because we have two superstars.

    Group 1:
Its about heart and believing in your teammates
    Group 2:
    Its all on me.

Good, I don't like all the media-types picking us. Everyone picked the Rockets to be the BIG sleeper a couple of seasons ago (including Barkley) and it was a horrible year.

The less optimism in the national media, the better IMO.

Besides, Tinman is right. How about we just play well, beat the crap out of the "favorites" in the playoffs, shut all the talking heads up and then get the respect. It would make the respect and adoration that much sweeter.

    Hey Non-ClutchCity fan.
What about the year Tmac and Yao were hurt most of the year?
were they suppose to kiss our butt and say we were gonna win it all?

Barkley is a loser, worst trade in Rockets history giving up all those parts for a washed up has been. But it is true no reason to think we are contenders if we can't make it out of the first round.

I'm sorta on the same side. I mean it doesn't matter if we picked up Michael Jordan in his prime we still have to prove we can get past the 1st round.. I mean it's been how long? 10 Years..!!!!

"WAAAH!!! WAAAAH!! BARKLEY DOESN'T RESPECT US!!"

Newsflash: He hasn't respected us each of the last ten years and he has made the right call every time.

Typically/historically, teams that have undergone a face lift in the offseason aren't good bets to win it all. It does happen (Heat), but more often it's teams that have jelled a bit (Spurs), or teams that have been good but add in one last piece that takes them over the top (us with Clyde, Pistons with Rasheed, Lakers with Phil, etc).

It's not to say it's not going to happen, but the Celtics aren't the wisest bet for taking the trophy. Neither are we. We have the potential, but we've got to go through an adjustment phase and find ourselves first. Most people here consider Scola a keystone of the rotation, and he hasn't played a real game yet. You can rest assured he will need time to get his game straight in the NBA.

I would rather have the rockets be the underdog and have something to fight for!!
Barkley never knows what is going on in the NBA. He is just for laughs and entertainment not to be taken too seriously! :p Besides that he is FAT! :D
