before you post this on reddit, you might note than Tiny Archibald is #1, with 56.8. (34.0 ppg and 11.4 apg in '72-73). They will certainly correct you on this.

Harden will probably pass Archibald, but it doesn't sound as cool as saying Harden beat Wilt's record, when he actually will beat Tiny Archibald's record.

fwiw: Archibald played 46 mpg that year.

Yeah, I only knew it, because Feigen brought it up after the 53-17-16 game, since he also noted that was 2nd most pts created in a game, next to Wilt's 100. Per game, Harden was further behind Archibald at that time.

That was before the advent of 3pt shots ... so, yes.

but surely someone on Reddit will point out Archibald played in the pre-3pt Shot era, so he'd likely still hold the record if there was a 3pt shot. You counter that with "maybe maybe no" and point out Harden plays in the era where no one plays 46 mpg like Tiny Archibald did that year.

    well, 29ppg + (11.2 times 2) doesn't equal OP's 56.7, right? :p

Yes, Harden's points produced per game give 3 pts to an assist on a 3 pointer. You can look that up at NBA . com stats. He's 27.3 ppg on "Assist Points Created"

A lot of you probably didn't catch this, but Westbrook had a game against the Warriors a week ago where he was -25 (worst in the game). His record shattering triple-double is unbelievable, yet his contribution is not winning games like Harden. A true MVP win games, not win on stats. Most likely scenario is whoever wins this year, next year is their turn unless Westbrick, or Beard doesn't repeat this year's stats.

I took the liberty of added Wins to this chart ... in Green Dots. Yes, Tiny Archibald is off the chart at the bottom

3 pointer has lower %, so if he tried to do a lot of 3pt assists, his total assist number will drop. So you are right it's maybe maybe no.

Harden has 4 consecutive games of 35-10. Longest streak since Archibald's ('72) four-gamer.

Chris Broussard has a vote and he already said he's picking WB over Harden simply because of the triple-dbl. Many other voters will think the same.
