Not mad at the Ariza signing. Much better defender and almost equal on offense, plus half the price. More upset about losing Asik without some other form of backup center. TJones played solid last year at the 4 so not really sweating losing out on Bosh, would hope Jones develop a midrange jumpshot though. If we strengthen out 1 and 3 positions we should be tough. I'm not all doom and gloom, we've fielded worst squads. Remember when Lin and Asik were going to lead our team?

Best way to keep dwight and harden is to get them another superstar while they learn how to play off each other. Both of them still need to develop their game.

Because like Morey and Les, you seem to have tunnel vision. You act like the only way to win an NBA title is to acquire as many superstars as possible. You don't need 3 stars on your team for a championship. The Lakers did it with Kobe and Shaq and then Kobe and Pau. The Spurs did it in 2003 with Duncan and an aging Robinson. The Heat in 2006 did it with Wade and an aging Shaq. The Mavs in 2011 did it with just Dirk. The Pistons did it in 2004 with no stars for crying out loud!

Here's a crazy concept for the Morey apologists. You get a superstar. Maybe two. Make sure they mesh well. Then you start to put complementary pieces around them. Guys who on their own might not be great players, but as members of a supporting cast do exactly what is needed of them(i.e. Troy Daniels). Then you get the right coach to bring those pieces together and implement a system that can allow them to achieve success in the postseason. Then just sit back and allow that group to grow together.

Sometimes it works. Often times it doesn't. But at least you give yourself a shot at a title or two. Instead we keep flipping all these players in a vain attempt to land superstars and more often than not it doesn't work. And to add insult to injury, some of these guys we've let go have gone on to do pretty well elsewhere(Posey, Dragic, Lowry, Landry, Ariza(who's now back), and now probably Parsons).

Other GMs fear, but respect Morey, but I don't think that players do....He always has to trade for his players(sans DH), and is almost always rebuffed by FAs? Why is this?

It's not back loaded. It's declining in value per the tweets from yesterday.

Anybody think Harden and KD have discussed playing together ala the Heat Big 3 prior to June 2010? Pretty sure that's his best friend

Didn't the last championship series just point out team depth and consistency trumps a star heavy team that has nothing else that fills out their roster?

"Next year," Houston's motto. The sad part about Morey is that he would be the perfect guy to get great role players but he's wasting time trying to get a third star. The sadder part is Morey made the right move not matching Parsons. Morey might get another star but by the time that happens it might be too late.

What does feigan know? We could easily use this flexibility to make a trade at the deadline.

For Christ's sake, and with all due respect (seriously), there was a plan this off-season. What happens if we strike out at the deadline or next summer? Or the summer after that? Are we going to keep having a revolving door at the entrance to our locker room until Dwight is well into his thirties? "Waiting until next year," year after year? Morey did superb work getting Harden and Howard, but this off-season, baring some last minute miracle, is a disaster. Continuing to talk about how we're going to go after player X in 2015, or player Y in 2016 just continues the roulette betting we saw this summer. No surety of getting anyone that's an impact player, not as many future draft picks as before, thanks to "ramping up" for this summer's "big move."

I'm looking at these "future possibilities" we should allegedly be getting worked up about with a highly skeptical eye after this fiasco.

At the moment, yes. But Howard and Harden should be a good enough tandem to at least win a stinking playoff series. Again, it comes down to Morey and Les never building a solid team around these guys because they insist on maintaining "flexibility" for somewhere down the road. Only "somewhere down the road" never seems to materialize.

Keep in mind, folks, that Morey has been here for 7 years. The team has won only one playoff series in that timeframe. And they've had only 4 trips to the postseason and 3 to the lottery. Granted, injuries played a role in some seasons, but at some point the excuses start to run out. What would you rather have the team do as a fan? Write off an entire season(or two) and gamble that a Love or Durant winds up in your lap? Or try to put together the best team with the assets and money you have and give it your best shot? I don't know about anyone else, but I'd much rather they start attempting the latter.

This is where TheFreak's complaints come in. While chasing headliners, key ole players signed with other teams. The Rockets need system fits over mega-star free agents, imo.

    This.

Going for the big swing if fine but when your down 0-3 you just put the ball in play and hope the rest of the team can carry you around.

With Lin gone have the LOFs and LOHs been replaced with MOFs and MOHs? (Morey Only Fans and Morey Only Haters) It's #ANewAge indeed!

I can no longer accept that a "plan" involves gambling everything on the whims of a bunch of flaky free agents who in the end are more interested in money than winning(Melo and Bosh).

Here's an example of a "plan". After that Lillard 3-point dagger, Morey and Les sit down and look at their team. They conclude that what did them in was inconsistency on defense, a lack of depth, and an over-reliance on ISOs on offense. So they make a list of players who can help them with the first two deficiencies and then strongly consider improving the coaching staff in order to deal with the latter.

Now there are no guarantees with that approach. You could still get spurned by plenty of free agents. You may not find an available coach(or assistant) who can fix your defense right away. But at least with that plan there are all sorts of roads you can take. You're not stuck with a grand slam or strikeout scenario like with the pursuit of a Bosh or Melo.

And BTW, the fact that they were so eager to get Melo who addressed none of their issues(defense, offensive execution, depth) tells you where the priorities of Rockets ownership and management lie.

LOL, it's better than the LOF and LOH stuff.
