Why did we choose a 2nd round pick vs keeping Morris?

I went through several threads and figured I was wasting too much of my time wanting to get feedback on what I feel is a fundamental question. Wouldn't keeping Morris be worth more than a second round pick? Was he not worth paying $2M next year as an offensive option off the bench, with a team option after that? Did they do it simply because he didn't fit into the system and wanted to give him an opportunity? Sure seems like his value dropped significantly that no one is really addressing. The articles I've seen seem confused as well.

Rockets made move for Robinson's potential, but felt more comfortable because were ready to start playing Motiejunas and to play Smith more.

His wingspan is 7'3". Another Moreyball win. Gms worry too much about height when wingspan is way more relevant.

Early 2nd round pick > Morris when included in a package for a star player.

The 2nd rounder from PHX is essentially a low first rounder...If Morey can pull magic from 2nd round picks like Parsons...he has the ability to make that pick into another top tier player...

Isaiah Thomas being the best passer on the Kings is a big reason Robinson will be in a much better situation here. Wouldn't be surprised if Parson threw more dimes nightly than the Kings assist leader... whoever that might be.

    This.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Morris contract being dumped keeps us in the max-contract bid during the summer.

Interesting to see what 2ndary moves, if any, are made.

Can't wait to see what this team will look like heading into the playoffs as well as next season once Howard or Bynum are here.

He's a big 6'9 in shoes and has a NBA body right now plus his wingspan was one of the largest in the draft I believe 7'4. Coming from a guy that's literally watched every single game he's ever played in college. Dude is a freaking man out there he's got crazy hops and is a monster on the boards. His jumper is streaky and his post game is power and athletism. Iv been saying it since his college days his best comparison is Blake griffin. Trob can handle the ball very well for a player his size and take guys off the dribble gave up. He breasted everyone last ur including Anthony Davis in the national title.

I really wanted the rockets to draft this guy and we somehow got him and harden in 6 months I couldn't ask for anything more. U want a pf with Allstar potential well we just got him. He's a high motor/energy guy. The guy plays hard all game very game. I wouldn't put much stock into how he played in sac. There about the worst place for any young player to go to. His last 3 games before the trade he was getting around 24 min a night and was avg. 11 and 9 those are very nice numbers for a rookie pf in the NBA.

We are better than Sactown obviously... but outside of Harden, the Kings have more talent. They can't utilize it. Not my problem.
