Harden and Russ need to lobby to bring him in. He's definitely an upgrade over what we currently have at the PF spot behind PJ
Every year when we bring in veteran role players, people have something negative to say. They are role players who by nature are inconsistent generally. Whether it be Brewer, Josh Smith, Ariza, Tucker, Prince Luc, Rivers, Faried, Ben Mac, etc. You have to consider what skill set they can add to this team in this system not necessarily how they did or didn’t fit where they were before and Jeff Green adds a dynamic at the 4 we don’t have with his ball handling and ability to play above the rim while also being a respectable corner 3 point shooter. He’s better than what we have. Would I like us to continue to pursue an upgrade later in the year? Of course, but right now a roster upgrade is available and you don’t have to give up anything to get him. PJ needs his minutes reduced.
He’s good enough to provide that one key moment. That key rebound or shot. The rest of the time he can sit on the bench for all I care.
he fits he is cheap he fills a need what is not to like here ? i dont give a damn about whatever happened in utah
I’m starting to believe in the Harden/Westbrook combination, but we don’t have the right pieces around them yet. Back in 17/18 we had the perfect supporting cast with Ariza, PJ, and Luc eating up the minutes at forward until Luc’s shoulder fell off and of course we still almost overcame that until CP3’s hammy exploded. We are in desperate need of some longer athletic players to fill out the roster. I’ve seen lots of people disagree, but Iggy would be phenomenal on this team right now in terms of fit and team need. Too bad...
"I always say Jeff is a star, man, because he's built like LeBron and almost plays like him in so many ways," - Bradley Beal
Agreed, he could play both forward positions and may also allow to wave Thabo.Good offender and less of an offensive liability.
I can't believe there are people opposed to this. This is the perfect low risk / medium or reward the rockets look for. Dude is only 33, hitting around 40% on corner 3's, 6-8, athletic, can run the floor with Westbrook, can finish above the rim... AND HE MAKES THE VETERAN MINIMUM. He can easily give us 12-16 minutes so PJ isn't playing 48 minutes a night. This is a layup. Ask yourself is he better right now than Clark or Thabo yes or no?
It costs us nothing to pick him up off waivers. He was serviceable in Cleveland. If we could give Ryno a shot again it shows you how little we have behind PJ. Thabo has not worked out at all.
Another underrated aspect of this is Jeff Green can play small ball 5 with Russ and the 2nd unit since they seem to prefer to go 5 out with Gary Clark at center. That’s a lineup that will play crazy FAST.
