I think there had to be a deal before he signed.

In case it did not work out, he can go. Gentleman's agreement. I am not sure if that is true but I would think that is fair.

Speaking of 'Professionalism' it was probably that a rookie took his spot. I dun think they ever envisioned a rookie taking his place this early.

I think both sides would have wanted to play out the season.

What I meant was, it was clear that the team could not afford to continue playing him in the same role. He was going to be like Ryno in the second half of last season, playing spot minutes here and there. Morey knew that Melo would not take that passively like Anderson did because of his ego.
Yeah, it is very possible that some kind of verbal agreement was made before the signing. But according to the article you posted, Melo still thought it would work at the time when Morey told him the news.

Probably just the shock that Morey decided to cut ties after 10 games.

I have to add, I did not mean ego issues as him having a big ego like in the past because let's be honest here, everyone has an ego.

I would think he was quite humbled here in comparison to his OKC gig.

Carmelo has a brand and a wider following, Ryno does not.

And I dun even get why the media is so infatuated with a washed player like him (charisma?)

They cause a lot of that distraction. He hardly gives interviews anymore.

Well, that's what I have been saying all along. He is Carmelo Anthony, not some random vet min guy. He's not even 20M Ryno. Nobody cares if these guys get benched. But Melo getting benched would be big story, whether he is taking it with "professionalism" or not.

Gotta say, that's a pretty ballsy move on Morey's part. No matter how obvious it may have been that this situation wasn't working well and likely would only get worse, he had to tell a future Hall of Famer and BFF of a team leader that we were going to have to cut him loose after just 10 games. And knowing that Melo was trying hard and still thought things would work out only made it more difficult.

Props to Maori for manning up and doing the right thing, rather than waiting until the situation reached the "2015-2016 Dwight implosion" stage.

Couple of articles are suggesting Tilman is much more result oriented than Alexander was.

I think Morey did learn some lessons from that 15-16 season. He was determined that it would never happen again.

Just watching this as he has been approached with the Carmelo question.

He states everything the media says is likely wrong and can be taken with a grain of salt.

So, I wonder what specifically Tilman's handprints were on. Also wonder which new players he felt made this team better than last years.

"MCW (and Ennis) are really good players." "The guys we got from Phoenix are really good players."

Only surprise is why the Rockets signed him in the first place...
Melo ran out MDA in NY
Melo ran out Bzdelik in Denver
Has been an inefficient player whose teams haven't won in years
And when the Rockets were playing him almost 30 minutes a game, were losing

I am not sure if it's a good thing or bad, he doesn't know much about player stats and everything but I think he wishes he would.

I think one reason why OKC and Warriors were to build those teams because they had terrific talent evaluators early on.

Also I heard Popovich was a GM before coaching.
