If they really need it and don't want to steal then they could take a picture of everything they buy, write down the total, and pay the store back at a later date. Doubt most, if any would do that. Wonder how the store would respond if someone did do that. I'd hope they would be appreciative instead of pressing charges.
Been lurking this thread for a while now, following from out of town. Heart goes out to ya'll who are in the middle of this. Please Stay safe out there!
I suppose the nice thing about a hurricane during August is that it sure does drop the temperatures nicely. Low 70's at 1:30 PM is just unheard of during August in Houston. Of course that's no consolation to those who have had their homes destroyed by this event.
Yes, but that is with the dry air from the north sucking up the storm and pushing it east. So far it hasn't happened yet and it has only grabbed the far north of the storm. Remember this projection a day ago has it moving more north towards DFW. They don't know what it is going to do.
Actually moved to Washington state at the beginning of the year, so I'm just sitting on my ass watching friends and family deal with this horrific flood and feeling pretty helpless.
So we should only believe the worst case scenario then? I get that we need to be prepared for the worst case scenario, Lord knows that's how I've been operating, but the NWS have been constantly adjusting the track and this is their best "guess" right now. I'm willing to give them at least a sliver of the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure we'll adjust our expectations as they do.
I imagine they would be sympathetic if they saw the items on the grocery list were vital to survival. I doubt anyone who does that was the one who did damage to the store either.
I live in Stone Gate (right off of Barker/Queenston), streets are pretty flooded, starting to creep up the driveway. My sister lives right off of Barker Cypress (A little north of Towne Lake, her house is across the Shipleys on Barker) and water had already started getting into their garage and first floor before they decided to leave.
