Yeah, he was giving us such strong minutes and adding great interior offense.

But this (the injury bug, biceps notwithstanding) was the known risk when we signed him and a big reason he was available.

I hope this is the most depressing thing we read today. Get well soon, Nene. We hope you'll come back next year, stronger than ever. Many thanks! You joined the pantheon of Rocket Legends with that 12/12, and we will never forget that performance, but... We want more!

Far bigger loss than Parker's. The Spurs respected Nene, and I'm quiet sure that they feared his presence too.

I was shocked Dantoni didn't play Montrezl at all when Nene went down. I thought he had been a valuable contributor this season. I understand shortening your rotation for the playoffs and relying on the vets more, but I thought he at least played well enough that the minutes would be his if Nene were unavailable.

Uh, no. Parker was the starting PG for the Spurs and their only playmaker other than Kawhi. Nene is the Rockets backup center and was routinely replaced by Montrezl during the regular season when he was held out for B2Bs.

It's a bad loss, but nowhere near as devastating as Parker for the Spurs.

Very big loss. If we get cold from the three and the Spurs slow the game down his inside presence will be very missed.

This is absolutely terrible news!! His skillset has been instrumental to our playoff success, I'll always remember his perfect game. Get well soon, time for some others to step up.

Listen to the Malcolm Gladwell podcast Revisionist History about underhanded free throws. You will see that guys who shoot free throws underhanded have a different psychological makeup than the rest of us. They are not influenced as much by their environment. If there is one young player in the entire NBA who won't be phased by playoff pressure, it is Onuaku.

    Only problem is he sucks.

I don't think Nene going down gonna hurt this series he was a -11 I think on the court in this series give or take...gotta look it up again...but the Rox might feel his loss against GSW if they make it past the spurs..however Montrez has playd well against GSW

We're ok without him. Will miss him but we got some young guys about to step up. Also, Capela will raise his game.

They got 3 games to figure something out. Harrell and Dekker need to produce.

This sucks. Nene was great for us and helped get us past OKC in the first round. I do hope he returns next season. Thank you, big fella, for helping us get this far.

I live in South Indiana (right by Louisville) and everyone knows I'm a huge Rox fan. When I sport my Rox gear they always ask about Harrell. He's shown flashes of potential during the regular season. He could be an unforeseen x-factor. The guy plays with passion (when he's not playing garbage minutes) and fortunately for us, its contagious. Game 5 is a must win IMO, very little chance of winning on the road in SA in 7

Sad for Nene. He was crushing it and based on his energy/passion, really deserved the success he was having. But at least it wasn't Harden, who also had gave us a scare last game. It could be worse from a team perspective.

Sounds like it's going to be more Anderson focused, but hoping Harrell and Dekker both get shots to prove themselves.

I feel like Harrell really steps it up when he feels like a lot is asked from him. I believe Harrell will go off (relatively) the rest of the postseason if we give him real minutes in real situations.
