Would probably throw up if we gave up our first round pick for Gallardo. Would think that there would be a more significant addition that Luhnow would make that would already give it up before signing Yo.

Sources: Astros interested in Yovani Gallardo. Luhnow has a master plan. 7 out of Gallardo's 8 seasons he has posted an ERA between 3.42 and 3.84 , the last two years being his career best. Turned down Rangers QO offer. Still only 29 years old. 7 consecutive years with 180+ innings. Consistent, durable. I would sign him over Kazmir for sure. 3 years 50 million? That would be a good signing in my opinion. His agent is Bobby Witt, the ex-pitcher. Maybe he wants 5yrs/100mil?

Anybody else going to be sad about losing vince Velasquez? I don't mind him being a piece in a deal for a stud but if the return isn't great then I'm not sure. I feel like the injury concerns are behind him and he's gonna be a really solid starter. He's a tough kid

Really anxious to see how this plays out... mainly because it can either prove or dis-prove my theory that these leaks indicate the deal is not close at all or will fall apart due to some snag.
won't really disprove it. you're already right more often than not. but the sheer volume of the nonstop, rampant rumors...eventually there are bound to be some that end up actually happening.
True... but mainly looking at these specific types of tweets coming out now... "Trade is close, not there yet.", "Trade is imminent... but not quite ready to happen.", "team x in serious talks with player y..." Those are being leaked by a "source" for some purpose... the least of which (IMO) is just innocently spreading news to keep reporters up to date.

Getting a closer like Giles would be fantastic. Pushes Gregerson to the 8th, which really helps. Still need 1-2 more bullpen arms, especially if VV is gone.
