I just want to remind people that the interviewer is a leading conservative commentator in England. However it appears that he puts journalism over party. We are just no accustomed to seeing an interview get to the meat and ask the hard questions. We think of that as picking on someone rather than giving them a platform to show why their ideas are valid. Shapiro couldn’t do that he was too busy trying to fight the (conservative) reporter because his questions triggered him. Shapiro was exposed for what he is plain and simple. He brings little new substance to conversation but lots of antagonism and division. Then he writes a book about having better political discourse and follows it up with this interview. Not a good look.
Andrew Neil and Jo Coburn are not typical BBC hosts like a Cathy Newman or Jon Snow. They attack pretty hard whoever comes on. If alone they will sort of change positions but typically they trade off so Neil asks one side hard questions and Cathy will go after the other. I think this was supposed to be a publicity stunt for ben to sell his new book on the subject and it backfired. Or not if all publicity is good because his only motivation is shekels.
Never been all that impressed with Shapiro. He knows the topics well but lacks any originality or creativity.
Shapiro is a terrible public speaker and debater. Seems like a pretty dumb guy who likes to talk fast about nothing
I have not watched much of him but I had the same conclusion after watching this interview. It was like listening to a jackhammer. He overwhelms you with quantity of words but not quality of thought. He finds one topic and won’t get off of it and repeated himself over and over.
Shapiro is a mouthpiece for orthodox jew. He says 'judeo christian' but when interviewer starts asking anything specific shapiro freezes up. Surprising considering that is his shtick. I would have thought he had more behind that part. little more than talking points scripted. *tsk tsk Shapiro is looking for a orthodox, near sharia like law and its more of that same oppress women theme, dressed up as 'real jew' His true audience is fellow jews that arent practicing the way he wants and his elders are paying him to promote. This is his mission. This interviewer called him on the abortion thing and shapiro ejected im disappointed he wont own his stances. Its easier to attack and hide his own extreme agenda.
Shapiro is not a hypocrite. He is naive. He says he opposes “identity politics” but he brings up his own identity repeatedly.
BBC guy looked/sounded like an idiot -- "your policies would return America to the dark ages" -- ridiculous. And no, BBC guy didn't even come close to "destroying" Shapiro. If fairness, it seems like 3rd parties like to put "destroy" in titles of videos, and nothing of the sort happens -- it's just to get you to click.
Finally watched the video. Did Ben actually try and and essentially argue that he had more likes that the interviewer? And why does the right try and call you a lefty anytime they feel threatened as a defence? Talk about snowflake.
UK media is much more confrontational all around than the US media. This isn't just a Ben Shapiro thing. They go after everyone. If you get defensive and/or aggressive it is like chum for them. The key to dealing with them is be as calm as possible.
