Damon Jones is also saying it.

I detect what the problem is here.

Harden does not need to play elite Defense for his team last year because of PJ, because of Ariza and Luc and protector Clint.

So naturally he looks great if he even tries his hand on post D and picking pockets like a thief.

Other stars have to play more Defense.

In terms of Offense he is clearly above everyone and his team of last year did not need him to play elite D.

If you are talking about a complete player, nobody is perfect. You can put him as No. 1 to No. 6. These rankings are subjective.

It's like the time when Yao was dominating against Shaq and young Dwight. And people were still putting Dwight over Yao because he had the better stats against other players not named Yao. (subjective)

But I would have understood if people took Yao over prime Dwert.

so sick and tired of this “D’antoni’s system makes Harden look better than he actually is” argument...it’s so fcking stupid

Harden barely has any help this year and creates everything for himself...he takes the toughest and most contested threes in the league...he is the most ISO heavy player in the league...the Rockets play at a very slow pace and aren’t doing anything that’s way out of the norm like the 7SOL Suns were doing back in 05

you’d swear Harden is surrounded by 40% 3 point shooters and 2 other all stars

Harden has the toughest job in the league.

Why don’t they ever say something like playing with multiple other stars in a motion heavy offense makes Curry look better than he actually is?

Curry in Mark Jackson’s ISO system wasn’t even a top 10 player. Steve Kerr comes in and he immediately wins B2B MVPs...

Guys, I'm not going to let you bait me into this foolish Harden bashing. Max Kellerman always talks with both sides of his mouth. He always try to please both sides of the arguments. Nothing Harden does will ever please these talking heads. Why then do I want to raise my blood pressure on what these moronic talking heads say about Harden. How silly is the argument that Harden is number 7 because his plays in the play-offs dropped drastically but put AD ahead of him. AD has never made it to the play-offs but once in as many years as James Harden has been with the Rockets. What happened that play-offs? He won one play-off game and was swept by same Golden State Warriors that the Rockets took to five games once and then seven games last year. Please, kill this thread already. This thread is only good for one purpose and one purpose only - - to lure Clutch and Rockets fans into the agony of why James Harden and the Rockets were so hated. It's not worth it.

Because it doesn’t fit the narrative.

If you wanted to go with a lazy narrative to tear down a player, you could easily say Steve Kerr inflated Curry’s stats.

Curry wasn’t CURRY until Steve Kerr implemented his illegal screen offense.

Harden was a 29 ppg scorer with 7 assist, MVP runner up, and made the WCF without D’Antoni. With Kevin Mcfail as his coach (who still doesn’t have a coaching job btw)

Max is just following the skip bayless model in finding a lightning rod player and taking a hard stance against them. Skip does it with Lebron and Aaron Rodgers. Max is doing it with Harden.

Max is not a basketball guy. He’s was a boxing guy who is now forced to watched basketball because he’s on first take.

When cf realizes that and realize he’s nothing but an entertainer that’s trying to generate views it’s tough to get riled up with what he says anymore.

Hollins is making them look silly.

They can't refute his points. Can AD beat GS? Can Giannis?

Mentions Harden's 2/13 from the 3pt, but forgets that he didn't get shooting fouls from some of those shots. Or let's not bring up Gordon's 2/12 or Ariza's 0/9 from the 3pt. As with any great player, you still need help.... and Harden still dropped 32 points.

With what Harden has done with this Rockets team is simply amazing. No other player could put in these type of performances with this team, especially this year.

They flip the two guys narrative a few times a year to keep people clicking. If you knew their position would only occasionally change (like normal human beings) you would tune in less often. Smart click grabbing move. It's really a joke that anyone would think that these 2 "analysts" actually hold any of these opinions as their own. It's 100% scripted to generate views.

    Suck it Kellerman:

2018 - 2019 Leaders in Total Points Added (TPA) which accounts for both Offensive and Defensive contribution:

    1. James Harden 219.54
    2. Anthony Davis 208.82
    3. Gannis Anteto. 205.88
    4. LeBron James: 191.56
    5. Nikola Jokic: 179.90
    6. Paul George: 161.82
    7. Kyrie Irving: 152.78
    8. Rudy Gobert: 146.47
    9. Kevin Durant: 141.27
    10. Damian Lillard: 135.90

Kellerman's boy Steph Curry is 14th.

So Max's argument about Harden's defensive contribution holding him back from top 5 consideration is BS. Harden is so good on offense that even with league average defense, he stands head and shoulders above everyone else.
