Just for fun I went back and looked up Brian Smith's takes from the first OTAs last year. http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...rst-texans-ota-in-stride-as-qb-battle-begins/ http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...texans-full-ota-splitting-qb-reps-with-hoyer/ http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...rst-texans-ota-in-stride-as-qb-battle-begins/ http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexan...date-smith-on-texans-qbs-in-otas-hard-knocks/ Spoiler alert: he's encouraged, if not complimentary, about Mallet's performance. Worst he does is mention some accuracy issues, but otherwise he's fluffing both guys pretty well. Hard to trust his opinion, honestly. If Mallet was a dud last year, why the smoke screen?

It's a crappy thing for a journalist to do though, isn't it? When he had the chance to point out concerning poor play last year he glossed over it. Now that Mallet flamed out, he's taking a dump on him like he knew it all along. Seems opportunistic at best.
