I very much doubt the Democrat establishment supported him until he won. I'm not even going to bother looking it up, since it's obvious that Zohran is not the corporate shill they always back in elections.

Mamdani has not sexually harassed a single woman much less thirteen. He does not have the experience NYC needs.

He has great ideas, this will be fun to watch. If he wins and NY does well, it will blueprint a way forward for Dems.

It's interesting how much power the Israel lobby has nationally and a Muslim just got elected mayor of NYC. Politicians **** themselves over the fact that AIPAC will primary them if they get out of line. This shows they need to have a backbone.

I'm guessing his market controls and price fixing ideas will fail spectacularly, like they always have.

Much like maga, the couple of actual good, overdue ideas this guy has are encased in a mighty large turd sandwich of other craptacular policies.

Cuomo was a terribly marred candidate. Apparently, he has decided to stay in the race as an Independent. Eric Adams is now an Independent. He crushed Republic candidate Curtis Sliwa (who may meet some qualifications since he's on wife #5) in the last election. What a race!

I'm a doomer/accelerationist, but even I think it will take a couple of generations to find someone as morally repugnant or reductively stupid as Trump.

    So please, enlighten us.

Look, Nordic countries like Denmark, Sweden and Finland are some of the happiest on the planet because of their good social programs.

This could be ground breaking here in the USA, to get out of the "WORK FOR THE MAN" mentality to the live your life first, and be happy mentality.

The breakdown of economic fairness is not a result of capitalism (free people in free markets making their own decisions), it's the result of a few dozen people getting to set the cost of money/capital. i.e. central control, price fixing, aka socialism.

that assumes a causal relationship that is very questionable. I'd assume deep-seated cultural traits to be much more important as a "cause" of "happiness"

Having strong social programs can help for sure. Struggling to pay for healthcare or raising a family (education, daycare, etc) can really make life miserable.

But the true root of the discontent is that we're designed to be indebted by our world reserve currency status.

We must be net consumers and not net producers to keep the American hegemony going.

Nobody is ever going to really be happy and free living their lives as a debt slave to a manipulated monetary system.

It's never been about states rights. It's about unfettered capitalism and back in the day unfettered slavery. They see this guy as a threat to corporatism. Expect even the mainstream media like the NY Times to take shots at him because all mainstream media is corporate media.

And of course Os T makes my point. The Plutocrats are afraid. Bezos specifically said he would not allow the WaPo to be critical of free markets and that the editorial board would push free market content.

"I’m writing to let you know about a change coming to our opinion pages. We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets. We’ll cover other topics too of course, but viewpoints opposing those pillars will be left to be published by others." - Jeff Bezos

Washington Post opinion editor departs as Bezos pushes to promote ‘personal liberties and free markets’

The WaPo is now a billionaire's propaganda outlet. It's exactly what's wrong with this country right now. Bezos is subsidizing a once respected newspaper that is losing readership in droves so he can shape it's message.

Sure! Trump isn't the worst person in the world. He is an unlikable billionaire who fully understands he lives by a different set of rules... like everyone in congress and all the other rich people who run this country.

Being morally repugnant or reductively stupid is only but one of the many characteristics of terrible leadership. Its my opinion that Harris was more stupid than Trump...and I do not view Trump in a favorable view when it comes to intelligence. I do not care about anyones opinions on morals. I had enough childhood brainwashing to know what it means to judge a person on 'morality'.

Fun fact some people fail to understand - The american people voted Trump into office, not Donald Trump.

Price fixing / central control is the end state of unregulated capitalism. It's why we have monopoly laws. Shoehorning the failures of capitalism into socialism is a weird argument I haven't heard before.

It's funny that you are using the "no true Scotsman" defense of capitalism when communist have been using the same fallacy for years. "China and Soviet Russia weren't true communism" and now we have "America isn't true capitalism." The irony is thick.
