He has four more years starting at 35m and growing. He would totally screw all our flexibility. I know you are desperate to unload Jalen, but this is an ignorant idea. The Rockets will jettison Jalen before the year is out if he performs like you say he will. Just be patient. Brooks will be gone as well. The Rockets love Amen and Brooks is blocking him.
That's less than a rookie max extension for a guy with legit superstar upside and it dumps a bad contact and a guy the team is looking to dump anyway with the best possible return
He can’t stay on the court. Has problems with his work ethic and degenarative body issues. It’s too much money to take on with all the decisions we have on our own guys plus trying to find a star which Zion will never be. There is a reason the Pels were trying to dump him and had no takers.
The contract is definitely good and some of the clauses built-in allow you to cut bait pretty easy. And his history would probably render the package needed to acquire him as less, but really who knows? It will only take one team offering six or seven firsts. The ante keeps being upped. You definitely have to include Sengun. And that is what makes it a non-starter for me. They can’t play together and I have Sengun rated as the better prospect. Zion played 70 games BUT I always come back to the fact that he blew a gasket in a high intensity semi playoff game. When the intensity ratcheted up, his body wasn’t ready. Nor will it ever be IMO.
I would trade Jabrari 100 out of 100 times for Zion. Your talking superstar for a guy who honestly is a bench player on a contender. We need Zion or Booker to take us to the next level. Jalen and Jabrari are very good players, but every team in the NBA has these types of guys. It’s the superstars like LeBron, Tatum, Doncic, Zion, etc. who take you to the next level.
Which is fine, if he can't stay healthy it frees up minutes for better young talent, if he can, you potentially have a superstar player. It's win/win. We're already stuck with Dillon Brooks who is awful for the same amount of time anyway, so it's like 10 mil a year extra to either have a potential superstar or a guy who will be hurt and not in the way of the young guys. If Dillon Brooks is on the team, Ime will start him...because Ime doesn't care at all about merit when it comes to those decisions.
I just don't see the need or the risk for a low post guy that can't defend or rebound, and has a hiigh chance of injury. Besides, Jabari's on the come. Also, I want to package Jalen in a deal for Booker.
That's fair, I'm sure there's better ideas out there, I was just saying that something I outright rejected for a long time doesn't seem THAT bad anymore if we can get out from under certain bad contracts in doing so. I'd prefer to get back a shooter, but some kind of 3 or 4 players for one type deal is what I think the Rockets need.
Well, the main bit would be using the Suns own picks. Jalen would be looked at as nothing more than an expiring. The deal I'd offer would be something like Brooks, Jalen Green, Jeff Green, Jae'sean Tate, all the Suns picks we have, and the last Nets pick for Booker. That's 3 expiring contracts, Brooks, and a ton of picks that could help them rebuild.
I think if Jalen plays well the first 40 games and Phoenix implodes, you could see a Jalen+huge draft capital deal for Booker. I guess the gamble would be taking the more sure thing in Booker. I have some concerns that Green might play really well this year and it not carry over. So getting Booker would be the safer play. Sengun Smith Eason Booker/Cam Amen/Reed being what we are looking toward in 26-27. It’s a good start.
Sooner or later, Matt Ishbia finally gives in to the rebuild, and we'll be there with open arms. (or jaws). Forget about Durant and Beal staying healthy...besides they can't play together. Plus, they don't use Nurkic properly either. It's a mess. They need to sell those guys off. Mike Budenholzer will grow their youngsters. Jalen, before this season starts, probably has # 5 pick value or so to the right team. I know, right....after everything. Seriously though, it's speculatve value combined with the runs and flashes he's shown. As others here have agreed, we attach all their picks, and....
Not just Jalen. I appreciate all the guys you don't, from Jalen to Ja'Sean Tate, from guys like Holiday to Dillon Brooks. The team played it's best basketball with Sengun hurt & Jalen prospered. That says who's the better player right there We all hope to see that best Jalen Green from day one next season, not the version that plays great only when Sengun is hurt. We hope.[/QUOTE]
