Don't make this move yet. Making this move would help in the short term, but I hope Morey doesn't "rush" the shot. You can't teach size, and on top of size, Asik has a great work ethic, excellent defensive footwork, a great attitude, and GREAT health. The guy along with Lin played all 82 games last year. We can wait on this trade. Anderson is good and not a dime a dozen, but a good shooting big is ALOT easier to find than a top defensive center.

I just dont see anything Dmorey might like from their roster besides Anderson and they traded away this year 1st round pick to Philly, do they still have their 1st rd pick for next years draft?

Nice post. I don't agree that the trade is inevitable. I don't think there is anything wrong with keeping Asik and rolling with Donatas (beefed up) and TJ. Anderson is still a little soft if you ask me and doesn't do the intangibles well. I know all the "stretch" 4 guys love this trade but they could also pull the trigger on this trade midway through the season if everybody is still unhappy. Why pull the trigger now, no need to rush into this.

Yeah, I think Rivers rookie year was just about as pathetic as possible and then I looked at Chauncey Billups first couple of years. His field goal percentages were awful. I still don't think Rivers will amount to much but seeing how far Billups developed makes me think twice about writing Rivers off. Anyways, we don't have the time to wait around for him to develop though.

    I don't think Morey will trade Asik for Anderson;
Asik has a high trade value

Do you guys really want to tie up $8 mill in a taller and better rebounder but worse defender Jared Dudley? Dude is overpaid and Asik is worth a lot more than that...

You guys have to remember that Morey is at the helm. Who do you think has the more movable contract, Andersen or Asik?

We finally have an elite core, I don't expect further risky moves with bad salary cap ramifications like Lin and Royce White.

There is time right now to see how our squad works, as is. Morey planned for D12 years in advance, don't you think he had the foresight about the Asik question?

    This,
    Andersons cobtract is a problem.
    Dont trade Asik for Andreson
Better trade will be on the table
Asik will be great for NO, but they has nothing to offer.

We would have all the time in the world, imo....

Harden is a one man band at SG and gets like 95% of the time at that spot so if by chance, Rivers would be plopped in, it would be so marginal, wouldn't really matter....but if he does happen to turn it around and he's backing up Harden....that would be a good look a year or two down the road once this team has matured and the chemistry has truly set in.

Don't we have enough 3-point shooters? We need a PF with a sweet mid-range game so that he is close enough to go in for offensive rebounds. That gives Harden, Parsons and Lin/Beverley plenty of room to launch. That also gives Howard room to take advantage of his power in the offensive paint without tiring him completely by mid-season by making him chase every rebound.

D-Mo and T-Jo have those capabilities, although D-Mo is the better mid-range shooter and T-Jo is the better rebounder. If one or the other improves the area in which he is lacking, we have our PF without a huge additional expenditure.

I don't like the idea of trading Asik, but, if we must, then we need to get a young, tall, athletic backup center to develop behind Howard and a back-up SG who can terrorize the other teams' rotation players.

Not a guy I've ever seen to have upside. He's an inefficient chucker. He just had one of the worst NBA seasons in the shot clock era. He has Roderick Rhodes upside. Royce White was a better player last year.

The winner in an NBA trade is ALWAYS the one that gets the better player, not the better fit. Anderson may fit on our team, but he's ground chuck compared to Omer's porterhouse. I know Morey values Omer properly and is not willing to sacrifice such a rare commodity in the NBA for simply a stretch 4.

Well, yes and no. Yes they have it, but they are required to keep it since you can not trade your first rounder away two years in a row. So the next pick they could give up is not next years (Philly), not the year after that (have to keep it) but the year after that...when Davis is good...so...yeah, they don't have much in the way of picks to offer.
