It's hard to make age excuses for Eddie Griffins's production now when a similarly aged Zach Randolph tears him up like that. 16 and 10, nice job. 39 and 10, ouch! ------------------ Mmm Queso.
Just think, New Jersey took Jason Collins instead of Randolph. Doh! ------------------ I'd rather be MC Hammer than Nine Inch Nails
smeg, i couldn't agree with you more Good pic too! ------------------ D'oh! (_8(|) - a thought on Hakeem leaving [This message has been edited by harumph (edited July 24, 2001).]
Umm, three players were guarding Randolph, not just Griffin, so don't blame it all on him. I wouldn't be calling Randolph a great pick after a couple of summer league games. ------------------ Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. Profiles, rankings, mock drafts, and more! Has anybody noticed that in the picture of Lenny Wilkens has Cato standing against the wall directly behind Lenny. If it is not Cato it sure looks like him. Maybe it is his twin with a heart. ------------------ Keep Mo Ta & now we have Ta Mo
R-Fan good find. That has to be Kelvin Cato. ------------------ "The girls danced, started fondling me, I got aroused, they performed oral sex," Ewing said. "I hung around a little bit and talked to them, then I left."
I remember seeing that guy as I moved over to get the photo... he wasn't Kelvin Cato, but looking back his eyes and the shape of his head make it look that way. ------------------ Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen...
Wow, find out what Zach ate before the game last night! Maybe the Rocks can feed some to Cato! But seriously, I'm not surprised at Randolph's performances this summer. He has a very efficient, low-post game, is a good, deceptive athlete a la Brand, and uses his size well. He's going to be a good pro. And for those who say, "...well, let's not get carried away, it's just summer league ball, let's see how he does when it's for real...", remember that when you're praising\criticizing Griffin, Morris, Langhi and Co. ------------------
What's the deal w/tmo? I've been watching this guy for years, and not unlike this season, tmo came out playing well and seems to drop off a little every couple games. Is he not being aggressive? Lost confidence? Or what? p.s.--randolph will NOT be as good as elton brand and is nowhere near the stage of development that brand was at after his freshman season ------------------
Randolph will be a decent NBA player from what I saw in that McDonalds game last year - he does have talent. But I wouldn't put too much stock in his tearing up the Summer League. He basically has a huge size/bulk mismatch against anyone guarding him and he won't have that advantage during the season. Surely nobody can envision him posting up CWebb, Duncan, Malone, McDyess, etc. at will. ------------------
Whoa, Tmo, I hope you didn't think I was comparing Randolph to Brand! I was just saying that, PHYSICALLY, he's similar to Brand. (Zach's a little bigger, but he only wishes he ran the floor as well as Elton. Hell, I wish I ran the floor as well as Elton! ) Skills-wise, of course Brand was more advanced at the stage Randolph's at. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Live (edited July 24, 2001).]
Randolph has a 50 pound advantge over Griffin and is mobile even though he weighs around 260-270,so I'm not surprised that he scored a lot of points against him. I wish Griffin had scored more points but he had 10 rebounds which is impressive. I think Griffin needs to get more involved on the offensive end,and keep on working to improving his defense. ------------------
Randolph is exactly the type of player you don't want EG guarding - very large, very powerful, mainly a post game. EG's a SF right now... Randolph's a PF. When EG plays PF this year, it's going to be when he's matched up against the speed guys, like Rasheed Wallace. Randolph's more of a Barkley type. Compared to Randolph, griffin's a tooth pick right now. But I'd put a lot of money on Eddie having the better career. ------------------ Clutchcity.net... source for all your Rockets, Astros, political, music, humor, and Gordita news.
I'm back in Boise, now & thought I would take a quick check before trying to get caught up on all my work. Backing up Achebe, that is not Cato in the background, although I can't tell you who it is. The other thing is about Randolph. Eddie wasn't guarding him all the time, but he was guarding him most of the time. Randolph has very good moves and footwork. He has a great body for posting down low and very long arms. Were comparing his arms to Dench's who is a legit 7 footer and Zach's looked longer. It looked like the extra length was from the elbow down. He finished his moves and rebounded his misses. He faked Eddie in the air a couple of times. Believe me, other forwards are going to have trouble with Zach Randolph. He is a load. On another note, Alton Ford didn't put up a lot of numbers, but I thought he moved well also for a guy his size. He is a big body now, and should get bigger. There was an Italian point guard on Toronto's team that was very flashy. He had one behind the back pass for an assist, and another on the break where he was penetrating and with his dribble motion bounced the ball behind him to someone on the perimeter who drained it. He was still running forward when he did it. I looked over at the players that happened to be watching and they were all big eyes and oohing and aahing. He is only listed at 5'10", but looks like he has been practicing Pete Maravich and Jason Williams moves for sometime. I can't remember his name right now, definately Italian and played in Italy. ------------------
Zach is looking like the ROY right now. He just had another monster game against the Cavs. It was on ESPN and he was showing his inside and outside game. Very good looking player. He had something like 28 points and 11 boards. ------------------
Gentlemen, I hate to say this, but we fell asleep on Zach Randolph, this guy has abused taller players all season during his freshman year. He has awesome low post moves and the build to back it up. Eddie is too light at this point in his career to stop Zach. Eddie has more upside, however, right now, Zach is the better low post player. However, Zach's defense is shaky and cannot guard a scorer like Eddie out on the floor. Tom Izo of Michigan State demands that players play defense, rebound and hustle as a result, his players are farther ahead. ------------------ Let go and let GOD!
Unless POR moves some vets, Zach will be their bench b**** next year much like IND's starting center was for several years. Its a shame they get some great young talent and then fail to develop them instead playing Quitten and Blubber (Kemp). ------------------
I am a Hakeem Olajuwon fan. But wow, Zach Randolph putting up those numbers. Yeah, maybe the Rockets ought to consider trading Hakeem. Did they make a mistake by trading for Eddie Griffin instead of Randolph? It sure looks like it. ------------------
