Who says hes gonna fall off? His game relies on strength and skill. Not athleticism. He can still ball really well.
From what I've seen he's looked a lot worse already this season, and he is 34, around the age where players usually start falling off.
Dude still brings size, scoring and rebounding in the front line.. Think he's an above average defender. Yes not the go to guy that he was in his prime but someone who can put up and create a shot in the post. Considering D-Mo is our only consistent post player, I would say - YES.
Good thing they play 48 minutes a game! Zach Randolph is a defensive upgrade over the garbage the Rockets are trotting out there. He hits his free throws, rebounds and can score in the post and from mid range. He and his whole 15 possessions a game would be fine. So umm.... yeah.
I agree with you on this point. He doesn't look nearly as good as last year, especially defensively. The question is how much of that is the Grizzlies struggling and how much of that is Randolph losing a step. He is a bit of a dinosaur. Still, I would have to think about it if it came down to Brewer, Jones, filler and a draft pick. If nothing else, he could play back up minutes at the 5 and when Harden sits.
Too old to be effective over several long series. I'd pass if this is true about him being on the block.
I'm not so sure about that. Randolph is almost done, I mean, if it was 2010 then sure, but he's got maybe a year or two left in him tops.
ZBo brings toughness, scoring and rebounding. He's one of the hardest working players when he's on the court, IMO. His scoring ability is underrated, especially when he faces up and uses his jab step to create space. At this point, he's a definite upgrade over both TJ and DMo. No, he's not young, but he gets the job done in ways that we desperately need. But...he's very, very expensive. Like many wrote, this would be an "all-in" move. Risky, but the payoff could be immeasurable. DMo is slowly healing and TJ is still productive, despite all the vitriol that the "usual suspects" align with him. I like our youth, but ZBo makes you think about the bigger picture. Interesting...
Forget 2010. Randolph LAST YEAR is still a upgrade over any PF we currently have. Just because a guy has a bad stretch doesn't mean he's "done" fam. A guy like him who doesn't rely on athleticism is the perfect veteran for us. Any GM would trade DMo straight up for Randolph
I think ZBo would be a big help in the play-offs. My only concern would be with him fitting our style of play.
