I too am curious about these statistical indicators... You got one "evaluator" claiming to understand TJones IQ, or lack there of.

You didn't understand his weaknesses. We argued about it plenty of times in other threads. Here's an example from the "Trade Terrence Jones ASAP" thread:

Does that sound like a poster who understood Jones' weaknesses?

For a player like Jones, an opportunist who doesn't have a clear-cut skill set or role on the team, you can't use his previous stats for predictive purposes. If you don't believe me, look at his individual game logs from the 2013-14 season. From game to game, they're inconsistent.

You mentioned that I'm using the stats incorrectly and now you are saying stats don't matter with Jones. I don't understand what you are trying to go for here other than just trying to find a way to show I'm wrong about something...what that something is I don't know.

True that the game logs will show that he (before this season) had games where he disappeared, but even if you are just using game log consistency you are still left with an argument that he was contributing positively for more games than he was a negative. I don't see where we are going with this. The argument was never that he was great. It's that he WASNT invaluable. This year he's been hot garbage consistently which is inconsistent for him over his career.

"Does this sound like a poster who knows his weaknesses"

Yeah I still think that is a very fair take. Jones squandered a great opportunity to play an important role in the league with his abilities, but played himself out of the rotation with poor effort, poor defense, and rebounding. And it was never my intention to focus on b****ing about his weaknesses. We don't need to do that. We needed at the time to see if he had value that justifyied keeping him on the team. When he was playing at the level of skill he had with some sort of effort, he added value... Although as I've said before, the Rockets should try to do better with that role. Now Morey is looking at guys like Beasley because Jones couldn't perform at the level he did prior for two years... So yes the Rockets needed him but he didn't show up this year.

Not sure why that take makes me the target for you guys to try and go after all the time.

Even now, after Jones has played himself out of the rotation, you still think the statements you made about him almost a year ago are still fair.

And you wonder why you're a target?

On an internet forum, a poster who is arrogant, stubborn, and wrong will always make himself a target.

Please tell me how they were not fair at the time. Again you guys are totally oblivious of time place and purpose. AT THE TIME I think what I was saying was very fair (only that he's not complete trash & shouldn't be traded until they get an upgrade). I mean its so popular for the mob mentality to be a cathartic way of getting off that any shred of non-negative response upsets the herd. Its pretty funny (sad) to watch.

And yes i'll say it now... the negative Jones mob attitude here is a way of giving yourself a cathartic release for the Rockets making you guys upset. When in reality Terrence Jones is a very very insignificant part of what has made the Rockets collapse and what has made you guys cranky this year. He's something for you guys to point your finger at to make you feel better. Gotta have something to blame for the pain you feel... more evidence people take sports way too seriously.

Arrogant, stubborn, and wrong always.... wow. Its called the ignore button dude if I'm that horrible for you to have to read. If I'm that bad, I don't know how you can even stand walking out the door if this offends you.

Terrence Jones's value is so low, the Rockets will have to match whatever contract he gets this summer. I'm guessing it will be long and inexpensive and we will take the risk of retaining him.

Uhhh Okay. So you are just going to quote me saying the same damn thing I've been saying for literally years? What is not fair about what I have been saying? In accordance to time and place, I still stand by what I said. That trading Jones AND D-Mo from Nov 2013 to November of 2016 is not a move I would do if the Rockets are NOT upgrading the position.

Nothing would have made me more happier than if Morey would have been able to pull off a trade or drafted someone that upgraded the position. However until the position was truly upgraded, there was no reason in trading him for the sake of trading him when he was cheap and productive. Now he's not productive... so bye bye TJones.

The problem has less to do with Jones and more to do with Morey getting a productive 4, or another young PF surpassing Jones & securing the spot longterm. My thoughts have been that D-Mo is more than capable, but he needs to stay healthy & shake the rust off.

    Controversial stuff i know.

(when Jones isn't on the Rockets this Summer or before, who is going to be the scapegoat PF Rox fans try to burn at the stake next??? Or will we go back to focusing on the PG position and create Pat Bev hate threads nonstop now to keep the catharsis coming??)

You were wrong then but it wasn't obvious to you, now it's obvious to everyone that you were wrong then, but you want to argue that it's not your fault that you were wrong.

What is the big deal? Geez. Who cares? No one's right on every player. I sorta bought into holic's narrative on Isaiah Canaan being good. Doesn't look so good now. Nobody is getting in his face all the time about how bad Canaan is playing. Everybody is wrong about some players.

Besides, I don't think anyone can gloat about about any predictions made about Jones prior to this year. Clearly, he is not physically where he was before. He was not this bad. It has to be a result of injuries. If you predicted he was going to get injured and suck, congratulations, I guess. Otherwise, move along.

Are you sure he made it out okay?

Did he hurt his ankle slipping and falling on the dark theater stairs?

Did he get food poisoning from the popcorn?

Chronic depression because the movie he watched was too sad?
