Yeah, that would be the max I would be willing to give up for Lauri. If the asking price is more, they can keep him. I'm not giving up Sengun, Tari, Amen, Jabari, or Reed. I'm still undecided on Cam.
people will be thrilled if green ever gets to be markannen level player. He has 2 seasons of 64% ts under his belt with 39% 3pt shooting. I don’t know how you think green will be better than him by 24. his early performance is irrelevant after he made the jump. Because so few players can make such a jump.
Is 64% ts the same across the board? Is Grayson Allen's 67% TS the same as Booker's 61% ts? Is Lauri better than every player with a lower ts%? Booker? SGA?
I am not sure what your point is. I didn’t claim better ts implies better player. It is the fundamental indicator of your scoring efficiency and markannen is solid there and way ahead of green. With that much difference in scoring efficiency and with green unlikely to close the gap, I see it quite unlikely that green will be a better player by age 24 as an overall player.
Okay, it's settled. Grayson Allen is a better scorer than Devin Booker. 27-Year-Old Lauri here had a 15% unassisted rate on field goals made this past season. 22-year-old Jalen green had 60% of his fgs made unassisted. I think that alone accounts for their scoring efficiency gap.
I do think Jalen has more self-creation in his game, but when a guy is that inefficient with it, I don't know how much you want him to be creating his own shot. If Jalen can significantly improve his efficiency while still taking the same kind of shots, I think it will be fair to say he's more valuable than Markkanen, but right now Lauri is a much more valuable player because you can plug him into almost any team and he makes it better.
It is also a skill to be assisted, you can’t discount his scoring by saying ‘oh he is being assisted all the time’ if he can do it on a consistent basis. And many teams have other players who can create that shot for Lauri.
cultists here make it look like Jalen would have been more efficient if assisted but its actually the opposite last season, out of 134 players with at least 3.1 catch and shoot 3PA, Jalen the 5th worst 3P% (even worse than Jordan Poole) even worse than his own overall season 3P% https://www.nba.com/stats/players/catch-shoot?CF=CATCH_SHOOT_FG3A*GE*3&SeasonType=Regular Season&dir=A&sort=CATCH_SHOOT_FG3_PCT whats the excuse there? so in summary self-created - worse than league avg 3P% assisted - one of the worst in league 3P%
Or said another way, how helpful is it to have a guy really good at shot creation if he goes on to miss the shot?
honestly believe he is better than Booker when healthy. But no point in trading for him cuz we can offer him the max in the summer and try to get him for free. No reason to give up multiple assets to get him.
"Shot creation". Why is everything simplistic for you? For someone with poor individual scoring efficiency and the literal highest usage on the team, you'd imagine on/off impact for that combo of high usage below individual efficiency would be poor but Jalen literally has the second highest positive impact on team scoring efficiency per possession only behind FVV on the roster. Replace "shot creation" with "collapsing perimeter defenses". Jalen Green is the best on the team in making defenses scramble because they need to deviate a help defender after Jalen breaks said perimeter defense which leads to easier scoring opportunities down the line of that possession that doesn't have to lead to a direct assist or pt scored for Jalen. It can be a secondary or tertiary assists from Green driving and kicking and teammates swinging It around to the open shooter. Without that ability that Jalen provides this offense stagnates.
His advanced stats are better than bookers. He close to top 20 in PER and higher than Booker. I don't believe he's close to SGA though. But Booker isn't close to SGA either,
I never said his skills wouldn’t translate to a better team…there’s a difference between that and being a #2 option on a title team you’re comparing his numbers as the #1 option on a bad team…numbers he has only put up for 2 years…he has never played in a meaningful game his entire career…he has never played a playoff game Do u think Towns is a serious #2 option on a championship team? I don’t see how Lauri has been any better than him.
So no new reporting and you treat blogs where people regurgitate old rumors as "reporting". Is that what is happening?
The Rockets were really short on ballhandlers last season. If post-ASB (specifically March) Jalen shows up, he'll be who the Rockets need. If Pre-ASB Jalen shows up, someone that wasn't on team last season will likely need to be a ballhandler.
