The Rockets are going to be pretty much "interested" in most players.

The fact that it's arguable means that they are tradeable.

There you go guys, I made you a template for your bullsh*t posts.

EVERY summer when the rumor mill dies, people on this board start making rumors up. It’s really interesting human behavior.

Lauri has only put up good numbers on a bad Jazz team, and is going into his 8th season yet has never played in a single playoff game

Yet there are people who think he could be the 2nd best player on a championship team?

Where is the body of work to make that assumption?

I suppose another way to say it is in tiers. Lauri isnt a 1st tier star. maybe not a 2nd tier guy either. If he defended better and didn't miss so many games, I might project him higher than this.

I agree with most of your post. If we could pull off something like this with UTH then I think it would make sense. We add offense and defense to the team and provide UTH with a potential star to build around while tanking in 2025. I sent 2 1st rd picks it would likely take 3+.

Why would you trade a 22 year old "potential star to build around" for a fringe 27 year old all-star who's produced on mostly bad teams?

That's weird. It's not like the Rockets have a Booker or Ant waiting on the wings to replace Green's role on the team.

If there is any validity to some of the rumors being thrown around here, Jalen is up for grabs. Looking to find some value for what we get in return. It's that simple and @coachbadlee I'm not a Jater btw. I've been a proponent of giving him more time with Ime.

I don’t see how he’s proven himself to be better than even someone like KAT

Would people on here gladly give up a bunch of assets and a subsequent max contract to someone like Towns?

I wouldn't say up for grabs. I might say that our FO is listening to offers.

I’d actually be ok with this trade. Not because Lauri is a good fit, but he might be the best we can get for Jalen. He would also be some one we could move in the future maybe even at the deadline. If we did this, Amen would have to move to guard and Jabari to small forward. The FO would have to be committed to moving Lauri before he becomes a FA. I’m on board with Jalen getting his chance, but if the FO really wants to move him before the season, Lauri would probably be the best you could get even with the bad fit.

Utah would have no need for jalen, they already have a better version with sexton

True. As a hypothetical I would consider the trade, but it is not likely at all. I don’t want to trade any of our 7 young players this year, but if the FO really is trying to trade Jalen I was just saying Lauri would be the absolute ceiling of a player we could get for him. No way I’m giving up Sengun, Amen, or Jabari for anyone in the league that is not already bordering on superstardom and those guys aren’t going anywhere this year.

That is correct….hearing they are looking for a package of Sengun, J Smith, Sheppard, Thompson and 3 future firsts for Markanen. It is Danny Ainge of course. This whole post is a waste because the Rockets will never be doing any trades with the Jazz as long as Ainge is there.

We’re not a good trade partner for lauri at all. He doesn’t work with sengun, and he’s not good enough to trade a lot of future draft capital for. You’re not “getting” lauri for jalen, jalen would just be a small part of the price

I would assume Lauri has less value than Jalen. He's 27 years old and Jalen trajectory is way ahead of him.

Odd thing to say. I feel like you have an unusually low opinion of Jalen.

this. His asking price is always way too high and I’m always amazed when GM’s actually bite. The price to get Markenann (and other stars) has wildly exceeded the cost of drafting and developing your own talent or trading for a player on the come. If we are talking about what the Knicks gave up for OG, than fine with that. Jalen and Bari for an extended Markannen, i could get there. But this is Danny Ainge we’re talking about. It will cost Mikal Bridges prices. I’d rather wait and see if Bari takes a big leap in year 3 than mortgage our future for Lauri right now.
