The Lakers being #1 is a travesty. In my eyes, you could make a case for Boston or Charlotte taking the top spot. It's nothing more than Lowe paying homage to the Lakers' franchise success and familiarity.

Is it me, or do We have more to worry about than "having the 3rd worst court in the NBA"? Who the hell is going to join the coaching staff?!?! We still need DEFENSE!!

    1. Flip-flop the logos: Instead of just the "R" at center court, try using the full logo at center court & the "R" logos inside the arc

    2. This same design you have - but use the 94 Clutch City era logo & script, even on the baseline.

    3. Some college has a Blackwood stained court. Maybe try a redwood 9r cherrywood stained court for us.

Alright, I changed a bit. I noticed the baseline and sideline color was a little off. Hopefully it's the right shade of red now.

I also made the words "HOUSTON" on the baselines and "ROCKETS.COM" on the sidelines match the lighter wood color. Before I just colored it the same color as the dark wood. But now, I was able to duplicate the actual wood court for the letters. Looks much better.

I also added "Clutch City" in script on the near sideline like how Portland has "Rip City", Toronto has "We The North", etc.

I'll try to do some of the changes you guys suggested next. I'm not sure how it'll turn out but I'll give it a try.

I gotta admit, I find the court designs not much different from just logo designs. I think the Rockets logo look like crap, so by extension so does the court design.

Besides, I've never watched an NBA game live anywhere besides the Toyota Center or the Summit. And on TV it really doesn't feel like it matters. I don't think I've ever watched a game where I went, "Wow! That court is amazing!"

Brooklyn's home court is my favourite. The lighting and the dark wood just make every thing pop on screen.

Anytime I watch highlights and a clip from Brooklyn's court comes on, it just makes the road jerseys stand out so much. The colours really pop.

I think the Rockets court issues stem from the stain they've used. Too yellow in my opinion. I think they should attempt a grey/ash colour for their wood stain. They often use this colour combination of grey/red in their digital media and it works really well. I think they would stand out quite a bit.

Also, unlike Lowe I'm a huge fan of large center court logos. They have a place.

This is a ****ing r****ded article.

I'd say 85% of the courts have the same basic design but with different colors. The tail end of the curves are polarizing and are heavily influenced by exposure and team bias.

Just eyeballing, I like black, so Miami Heat's looks better. I give points to the Bucks for a different look.

The absolute bull**** Lowe spews out (re: 76ers) is pretty comical, as if he was some hipster design artist who just finished reading Professional Basketball Court Design for Dummies.

Inevitably, how it looks on photoshop is totally different to how the crowd sees it on the floor, how it looks on TV, and how the players react to it.

None of that is really mentioned or even given a half assed rating or score.

    ^No.

Zach Lowe's on a losing streak. It's nice word count for an article that's more fitting for a Bleacher Report slideshow.

I'd rather good writers admit there's nothing to write in the offseason than pad pages.

Yeah, this was actually one of my favorite courts in the last few years. The contrasting red 3-point arc versus the black marking in the paint, red baseline, black type face - just brilliantly executed.

If the Rockets used this court with our current logo, I'd approve.

Current one is too plain in my opinion.

I don't even know what you mean by red glare.

The outside of the court NEEDS to be red like the one from the 2013 all star game. Not because it looks better, but because it makes home court advantage better in my opinion. Look at two of the teams with two of the best home court advantages in the league. The Thunder and the Warriors are surrounded by blue and yellow, respectfully. On TV it just looks like the whole arena is engulfed in one color. It just makes the away team feel like they stand out if their colors contrast, knawmsayingG

That R looks so stupid. At first I thought they were copying the nWo with a bleeding R, then the more I looked at it I realized it was supposed to be an R lifting off much like a rocket, which is more stupid than the nWo idea. Quite a few teams have had success bringing back the retro logos for more than just an alternative jersey. I would prefer the ketchup & mustard jerseys with the old school logo on the middle of the floor. However if our ultimate goal was to get the number 1 spot of worse floor design I suggest we combine the ketchup and mustard with the pajama uniforms. Red and yellow with white stripes. Before each game there would need to be a disclaimer that by watching too much of the game could cause headaches or seizures.

I thought I read a tweet during the summer that said they were getting a new floor?

Eh, they are all fine. I don't think any of them are bad, and I like that there's variety more than I like any particular one. The 2 that really stand out to me are the Hornets and Hawks. The ones I like least are probably the garish yellow ones -- the Lakers and the Warriors. But in the tapestry of NBA courts, having an occassional yellow to change things up is good.

    Not mine ...From Chris Creamer's

My fav ...coupled with current home uniforms would be a crisp, unique look. Imagine with a white-out look in the stands come playoff time.

Something along the lines of what I proposed to BMD earlier (Option 2)
