"Young, Gifted and Black" -Aretha Franklin (What a powerhouse..she could do anything with her voice...she had an incredible band on this, including a young Dr. John on percussion!) "Franz Ferdinand" -Franz Ferdinand (I like this one...does anyone hear a lot of XTC- the band- in this? I think bands that can write great melodies and play them really fast never go out of style) "Other Worlds, Other Sounds" -Esquivel (What a trip...zoo zoo zee wow," etc.)" "On the Beach" -Neil Young (I had never heard this until the recent re-release...God, he's good...anybody have any thoughts on 'Greendale?') "Bootleg, live @ Hammersmith Odeon, 2003" -David Bowie (seriously, if you get a chance to see Bowie in Houston next month, do it...his band is awesome, the setlist is dyn-o-mite and he is singing better than ever)
Frank Black and the Catholics - Show Me Your Tears White Stripes - Elephant Zero 7 - Simple Things Jeff, I'm a huge Air fan and was told that Zero 7 is very similar. I got Simple Things from iTunes and was considering getting When It Falls. I love the 30 second sample of Warm Sound. I'll probably get the album for that song alone.
Alice in Chains- Nothing Safe Soundgarden- Superunknown Soundgarden- Down on the Upside Nirvana- Nirvana Ludo- Ludo
Pretty funny. They put 5 CRV songs on it, pretty much half the album But they have had many other hits http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDSUB040403161456420664&sql=TPxe5g8q9tbtm4~C
Greendale is fantastic. They had Neil in concert doing the entire Greendale album on DirecTv a while back. It might be available on DVD. Just Neil, his guitar, harmonicas and piano. No other gimmicks.

Hmmm, I never imagined you to be someone that would listen to Echo and the Bunnymen. I have been meaning to get something by them myself. Do you like this CD?
I like it so far. Haven't really had a chance to digest it. The funny thing is, the only reason I even considered buying it was because of High Fidelity, when Barry tells a customer that "Jesus and Mary Chain picked up where your precious Bunnymen left off". Since Stoned and Dethroned by the aforementioned Jesus and Mary Chain is one of my favorite CDs of all-time, I figured I'd pick up some Bunnymen at some point. So, yesterday, I was reading Rolling Stone and they had reviews of their reissues, with Porcupine getting the best one. Then, when I went to Cactus here to pick up RMTex's CD, I saw it for $8.99 and had to pick it up.
bows + arrows by the walkmen elephant by the white stripes take them on, on your own by brmc brmc by brmc youth and young manhood by KoL jeez - i've become trendy alt-rock guy...
Is this their 2nd release? How is it? Their 1st CD was very good. Manny, My favorite on that album (besides Watchtower) is probably Drifters Escape.
I don't have that album and I don't know why cause I love John Wesley Harding. Every time I go music shopping I see it, but at the same time I see something else and never grab it.........I don't know why. It's really starting to make me mad.
Blatz, You probably know this but Dylan had about all of his CDs remastered and are now in the SACD style format. Most of them sound sonically better than the old ones EXCEPT "John Wesley Harding". Granted, I am going on what I have read others said about in their reviews, but I would not take a chance and get the SACD version - try and find the old version instead. Bob - it was a pretty good listen first time through, but I will have to listen to it several times before I can pick a favorite song.
