Also, looks like he may be here quicker than we think? How much time will he need before he plays a game? I guess we will find out tomorrow?

Marwin or Reed might get moved. That makes the most sense to me. Valbuena at 1st, Bregman at 3rd, and Yulieski DH. Or move them around however you want to.

I'm sensing a trade coming to amp up the starting rotation.

And the Astros have a lot of guys to deal. Paulino, Martes, the Tucker brothers, Reed, Teo, Fisher, etc.

Even without sending Bregman out in a trade, I think the Astros have enough talent in the minors to get a #2 or #3 starting pitcher.

I'm starting to go crazy over here. The lineup combinations are insane.

But every year a stud top of the rotation guy gets traded for a young stud prospect. It's not that much of a stretch to suggest it. Even if Bregman is going to be a top 10 every day player, if he were to be traded, it'd be for a top 10 pitcher etc etc. You aren't trading him for a #2 starter or anything.

This was a brilliant way to allocate your future resources with how bad the FA market looks this offseason.

Well still. Remind me to not be on here in the event he goes somewhere other than Houston.

I would guess weeks. How many? I dunno. He hasn't played competitively in about a year.

I would guess mid-August. And Bregman should be here by the end of the month.

Never worry about having too many bats.

This is a win now type signing.

Crane/Luhnow taking advantage of having a low payroll and hopefully a stacked farm system. Good Times

Sure makes up for the lowest of lows we felt after 2005.

If you've played baseball you would know that playing LF wouldn't be a problem for an athlete like Bregman, or Gurriel for that matter.

Very solid report here.

Early returns from international sources expect something like this from Yuli Gurriel: 55 hit, 50 power, 50 glove wherever he plays, 6+ arm.
— Eric Longenhagen (@longenhagen) July 15, 2016

Huge potential here with minimal downside ($50M is less than 2 years of a big free agent contract).

2016 lineup:
RF Springer
3B Bregman
2B Altuve
SS Correa
DH Gurriel
LF Rasmus
1B Valbuena/Reed
C Gattis/Castro
CF Gomez/Marisnick
UT Marwin
DFA: Worth

Best comps to me due to age and position is Hanley Ramirez. Seems like this guy should have more power. Hopefully he starts hot before the league can adjust. Would be great to tet a hot bat or two (Bregman) down the stretch.

Why is it that Correa is never mentioned as a possible first baseman? Most people think he is only an average fielding shortstop. And if Bregman and Gurriel are better suited for shortstop and third, why couldn't Correa play first?

I think the Astros like left handers at first, but right handers do play that position.
