Sadly, it's the same situation as last week.

Maybe Gurriel needs 10 more games first.... smh

    DHing tomorrow!!!

Hinch said Gurriel has had about 50 ABs, a normal ST for him, and he's physically ready.

Hope he's a smash before long ala Bregman.

May not be ready, but he's no young pup. Dudes doesn't have two years to figure things out in the minors. He's got to get his feet wet with ML stars.

Astros pretty much are going all in. McCullers needs to come back. Now, who is going to be the closer ?!

Bring back McCullers as closer for rest of year. Keep that pitch count down

This may well be the guy that defines Luhnow's tenure. If Gulieski is a flop the Astros are kind of screwed. Rusney Castillo and Hector Olivera signed bigger deals than Gulieski and they flopped huge so Gulieski isn't a given.

He did go 1-5 in his last AAA game, so there is that.

Certainly a defining move, but probably not one that can be taken on its own to draw conclusions about Luhnow. Especially if he ends up signing Lourdes, judgement will have to wait until that pans out. But I agree $50M deals are significant for Houston and they really can't afford to have those players go belly up, would be pretty damning for the GM.

Luhnow will certainly receive criticism if Gurriel struggles, but the Astros wouldn't be screwed. It isn't THAT big a contract and the minor league system (especially low minors) is very robust.

While it is known the Astros nearly won the Abreu derby... Luhnow also really wanted Rusney Castillo.

Isn't the next series in an NL park? No DH, Bregman seems to have 3B locked down, so how does Gurriel get in the line up? LF?
