Yeah, it might be to a NBA players little kid or to their wife, considering the fact that they don't get to see daddy on an every day basis 8-9 months out of the year. But I guess winning the gold is more important than spending your time off with your family.
I fully understand the importance of family, although I don't believe it is an issue with the crop of players we are discussing, with the exception of Kobe. Let's see, does Tim Duncan have a wife or kids? Does T-Mac? Does KG? Most of these guys are youngsters, which is why this hasn't been part of the issue. Giving up a month of your four month vacation twice over a four year span to represent your country shouldn't be too much to ask. Many players with wives and kids have chosen to take part in this once in a lifetime experience. Don't get me wrong, I am not in favor of making players play internationally. It's completely up to them. Again, I'm bothered by the fact that representing your country is being looked upon by them as a hassle instead of an honor.
