It's insured for accidental damage or lost NOT bone headed idiots getting caught tossing your FRAGILE stuff irresponsibly.
Pray? lol. Having worked at these places in the past, if you guys think these packages are being handled with the utmost care, you're nuts. When those trucks get loaded, there's one guy loading 2-3 of those trucks and every item they load has to go in the right part of the truck or they get b****ed at by the driver. Now imagine for 4 hours packages are coming down a conveyor belt and you're having to yank them off the conveyor belt, run to one of 2 or 3 trucks you're loading with the package and making sure it goes in the right section. I was in shape back then, and it was a freaking workout doing that for 4 hours during graveyard shift. The worst part is when your trucks get a huge shipment - if you've ever watched that I Love Lucy episode where they're wrapping candy as it comes down the conveyor belt, that's what it ends up being. Too many packages to handle, so they start getting pulled off onto the loading platform until things slow down and you can catch up. During this period stuff just gets stacked on top of each other, thrown down on to the floor, crushed, and who knows what else. And I didn't even work at this place during the holiday season - it must be a freaking madhouse during then.
My point exactly. This is nothing new, packages are handled this roughly every single day or nearly every truck that goes down the road.
I've gotten packages from Amazon that looked like somebody tried to hide the last banana on earth from a gorilla in it. Everytime I see it, I cringe what the content will look like. What makes it worse is that nowadays it seems like Amazon is putting one sheet of paper or one of those airbags in there to "protect" it.
Because their job is not just to deliver the package... it is to deliver it in the "highest quality manner. Safety will be the first consideration in all operations." Their words, not mine.
What's new is video cameras are everywhere nowadays. Maybe in the past he could have gotten away with it. But now it's a PR nightmare and he will be fired.
Yeah, but it's one thing to do it out of necessity and another to be completely careless and not give a damn. I worked at UPS doing what DoD described, and for the most part, people don't want to damage your stuff. It just happens sometimes because you do what you have to do to keep moving. This guy didn't care and got caught. I'm not even sure how he didn't see the camera. Judging by the good quality, it's probably a big azz camera staring right at him
Goes terribly wrong? Lol ..... Now this on the other hand... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wE2bArQYFUQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Not sure what's so surprising. Do people really think the packages are handled with gingerly care like handling an infant baby or something? **** probably gets tossed around all the time while moving from truck to truck, city to city. If they were smart, it's really the sender's best interest to properly pack the boxes so nothing breaks.
It's all good, most retailers have a 30 day return policy... I've been shafted three times with USPS through Barnes & Noble and was able to get an exchange or credit back to my account... Now Ebay on the other hand, when I buy from just one person It's not gonna be a freaking LCD TV, that's for sure... I'll go inside the store and buy that ****...
DUDE. that's nothing. When I ordered an xbox from Amazon my gf was at the house at the time. So just as she looks out she sees the delivery guy chunk it over the fence. He just chunked it...my xbox... you could even see a corner of the box bent in. I mean he didnt even hesitate to wait for someone to come out. My xbox however was in good shape and has been working well, but still..come on man there was someone in the house to open the gate. This leads me to believe that it happens more often than we think.
This is the second season that I have worked for UPS as a seasonal helper. Working as a driver helper(delivering packages) and inside on preload. There is no way that we are supposed to throw packages that we know are fragile like that. Do I toss amazon mailers and such? Yeah everyday. Would I toss a monitor of any sort? Never. The hard thing could be maybe this house is known for dogs. He was trying to make a fast delivery at a house that is challenging to deliver to. If you do have dogs and you know that a package is coming, please keep your dogs inside on that day. If you have a pain in the ass gate to open, please fix it. Those things slow our day down when we are already working long hours to get packages out.
no delivery company (fedex, ups, dhl, etc...) is going to ring a door bell and wait to see if anyone opens the door, unless there is signature required. Even then, they may not wait til you answer the door before taking off. It's drop and go, otherwise, they would need to double the number of drivers.
Then they should double the number of drivers. The package delivery industry has not caught up with the exponentially grown demand with the advent of the Internet and Internet shopping.
He went to toss it on the grass instead of the concrete. It's really the only thing he could have done besides leaving it on the curb.
