I wanted to keep the SLK to contrast my SUV, but I never even drive it anymore so i think i'm sticking it on Autotrader soon.

For some reason, Manny seems like the conservative sedan type of guy. I just picture him more in the Lincoln than in the 350Z. Of course I've never met the guy, so what do I know... :)

I go by the rule : You can't necessarily tell if a person is rich or heavily in debt simply by the cars they drive or the money they spend. :) But your statement pretty much covers the entire spectrum, so I guess you're safe.

I can see now that no one has had crappier cars than I.

My first car I got as a hand me down(actually, It got hit from behind which altho it didnt do more than dent the back panel under the hatch, totalled the car) was a:

72 AMC Gremlin....ugly as hell, but damn reliable even with over 125K it had on it when I got rid of it.

next car was a 76 Ford Gran Torino(starsky and Hutch car..but with different paint job) Awesome awesome car, ran like hell with the big 351M motor in it

one cold morning, I managed to blow the motor in the Torino, so while I was rebuilding it in engines class in college, I drove another hand-me-down that may have been worse than the Gremlin, it was a

67 Dodge Dart with a Slant 6 motor in it. Needless to say, I got that Torino motor rebuilt and bored out REAL quick.

I eventually decided to get rid of the Torino after a couple hundred thousand miles, and got a hold of a old 78 Olds Delta 88 which I drove until the early 90s when I got what was my best car at the time.....

a 89 Pontiac Gran Prix.....a damn fine and quick car that I drove till it died with 236K miles.....at which time I used it for a tradein for my current car

a 2000 Chev Monte Carlo SS....this car ROCKS, all power(including sunroof), leather interior, strong 3800 PFI engine, sport suspension....one damn fine car

SO fine in fact that I have every intention of getting a newer model one soon for the wife, who has fallen in love with driving my car instead of her 99 Malibu.

anyway....I can see the mental image of all these foreign car snobs look at my list and look down their noses at the poor sucker who likes domestic cars.

    so be it... :p

There's no such thing as foreign or domestic any more.

The Ford Escort was built in Monterrey, Mexico. The Toyota Camry is built in Kentucky. And they all have parts that are built in other countries.

Really, the only difference now is that the 'domestic' auto makers (like Ford and Chevy) are unionized and the 'foreign' makers aren't. And the unions are what's killing the 'domestic' auto makers.

    1991-1994 1981 Sentra
    1994-1997 Ford 1989 Taurus
    1997-present 1997 Toyota Camry
2002-last week, 1994 Saturn(what a piece of junk, totally died on me and can you believe it actually was vibrating so hard that the side fender fell off and got tangled with a front tire?)
this weekend just bought a 06 Camry, would have liked an Accord if I could find one as cheap as the Camry I got.

I eluded to this in my first post but I want to be a little clearer here. I am an aggressive driver. I felt it would be too hard to keep my Z and try to change my driving habits. It would be easier to get rid of the Z instead. People might laugh but that car is one that you really don't know how fast you are going because it is so deceptively smooth. And I just felt that was not a good combination - aggressive driver with a powerful but very smooth vehicle. Thus the reason why I said it was too much car for me. :)

Even on short trips I use cruise control, not for convenience. :)

This is the same reason I will no longer have a standard transmission. Automatics typically keep your driving speeds much safer.

My first and only love is surprisingly a 2000 VW Passat V6 5-speed.

Absolutely love it. Got enough power to get past some of those Preludes and RSX's (atleast on the freeway). Also has good enough handling to where I can tail a speeding BMW on the freeway without too much effort.

A very smooth ride with awesome handling, exactly what I was looking for.

Till death or the day I get my M.D. do us part
