Definitely plays a part in it but you can't deny how cool he is under pressure playing in the AFC North.
Nothing to do with the Benson/O-line averaging over 100 yards rushing per game, or the defense giving up only 18.3ppg.
Passer rating is one of those stats that I think is over-rated, maybe way over-rated. I have never understood the fascination with Palmer. He has had 3 maybe 4 good seasons in my book but he has been surrounded by a wealth of wide receiver talents. For those three good to great seasons, he has had limited success (1 division title and no playoff wins). McNabb has been bitten by the injury bug several times over his career but I don't know why people blame that on the player. Who in the NFL can really prevent injuries. I think you have the Brett Favres of the world and there are also the players like McNabb who seem to be injured every year. Except for this year and 2004 McNabb has done more with less than any quarterback in this league except maybe Brady and this is with an offense that passes 60% of the time.
just curious if Rodgers isn't in your top 5 who would be the fifth if the rest of our list is the same? If you say Schaub, then would you take schaub overs Rodgers ?
I agree that he's been one of the reasons but not the biggest reason. He has been clutch. Hopefully he can stay healthy.
After Manning/Brady/Brees it gets pretty tough to name the last 2 players. Honestly if you gave me a sheet with every QB's stat but no name with those stats I think a lot of people would have a different top 5.
Actually I was surprised at how low McNabb's ratings have been. He has better than a 2:1 TD/INT ratio, but his completion percentage isn't where other QBs are. I agree that QB rating doesn't tell everything(Favre is an all-time great, and his rating is 86), but it is a very good stat.
Well unless you watched most of these QB's all season you have to take a look at their stats. I don't have the NFL Ticket so I checked out the stats for some.
Depends what you mean. If I were building a franchise, I'd go with Rodgers because he's younger, but they both have put up amazing numbers. Regardless, this doesn't matter because Rodgers is in my top 5, that wasn't even my point and I said that. I was saying Rodgers can't be classified as a "gets the job done guy" since he hasn't proven anything to earn that moniker. You can't be a "gets the job done guy" until you get the job done. Right now, the Packers aren't getting the job done. That assessment was correct with Big Ben, because that's what he's been his whole career. My top 10 would be: 1a) P. Manning 1b) Brees 2) Roethlisberger 3) Brady 4) Schaub 5) Rodgers 6) Favre 7) McNabb 8) Rivers 9) Palmer 10) Romo
Matt Ryan has the chance to prove he's a top 10 QB in this league tonight by beating the 6-0 Saints. Just watch out for Sharper.
lol I like Matt but I have been disappointed in the offense this season. A lot of that has to do with Michael Turner having a down year(The Backup Snelling has provided more of a spark), but we also refuse to go deep in some games. I don't think tonight is going to be a good night for us Atlanta fans. I may wear all black for this one.
There is no stat that tells us everything. You can go 1-1 for a 50 yard TD, and have a great passer rating. It also doesn't measure Wins and Losses. Its really a measure of efficiency. It is like PER, in that it can't tell everything, but its probably the best stat we have.
I actually pick Atlanta for this one. Definitely watching the game thought. Two of my favorite former Chargers playing against each other (Brees, Turner). It's sad because we let them both go for nothing.
