    My favorite actors:

Will Smith (I love all his movies and he is a very very very underrated actor)
Tom Hanks (the guy is simply the best of this era and maybe the best of all time)
Keanu Reeves (love all his movies except the corny ass ones)
Chris Tucker (Friday and the Rush Hour movies are some of the funniest I've ever seen)
Mike Myers (Love all the Austin Powers movies)
Brad Pitt (I used to dislike the guy, but Mexican, Seven, etc... won me over)
Pierce Brosnan (he is easily my favorite Bond)

Honorable mention to old timeys: Arnold, Stallone and Harrison Ford

Favorite actors does not mean best actors.

Here are the five guys I think are the best:

Tom Hanks (this guy should win the Oscar every year; Philadelphia, Sleepless in Seattle, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Apollo 13, Castaway, and Road to Perdition) My God the guy is good!

Anthony Hopkins (No one else would do Hannibal Lector justice)

    Al Pacino
    Ben Kingsley
    Charlton Heston

    Actors I cannot absolutely stand!!!!!!!!!

George Clooney! Man I hate this guy as much as Karl Malone
Denzel Washington! Really good in Training Day, but is the biggest overractor around.

How is Denzel Washington overrated? He was great in Glory, The hurricain, and Crimson Tide. His proformance with Gene Hackman in Crimon Tide produced one of the best conficts on screen ever. Hell, he was even good in The Bone Collector. I a can't argue on Philadelphia because I havent seen it yet.

I didnt say "overrated", but "overactor". Meaning he just does a little bit extra then the situation demands. He is good no doubt, very good actually, but I just dont like the guy's acting.

I am going to go with young actors, since comparisons with different generations often have disasterous results (Shaq best all-time center anyone?)
Ed Norton - Gets better and better. Was awesome in Red Dragon.
Vin Diesel - While FatF and XXX were at BEST mediocre, I thought he was great in Boiler Room and especially Pitch Black. He went back toward being a badass in Knockaround Guys (not a great movie). Hopefully he can recapture what he had before when Chronicles of Riddick comes out. Plus, how out of place with his other stuff does The Iron Giant seem.
Tobey McGuire - Not because of Spiderman (although I thought he was a great choice for the role of Peter Parker), but for some other roles like the Ice Storm and Wonder Boys.
Joaquin Phoenix - Excellent in Gladiator.
Nick Brendan - The key actor (IMO) on my favorite show.

Sorry, I misread your point. Your are correct, he does overact at times but not as badly as others.

I forgot to mention Billy Bob Thornton. I have never seen him give anything less than a brilliant performance (except in marriage).

Three excellent choices and omissions on my part. I bought a 2 DVD edition of Tombstone and watched it the other day and heard a very familiar voice. Come to find out it was Billy Bob Thorton as I had guessed. I didnt realize he was in that movie until then and he played a great (if not short) part as the bully cowboy who's ass gets kicked by Wyatt in the Oriental saloon.

good call. I'm not sure I'm the best judge on how cute he is, but he HAS shown some range.

He picks some......interesting.....roles most of the time, but he's put in some fine performances.

Didn't see Ralph & Joseph Fiennes, Billy Crudup or Val Kilmer anywhere, yall have most of the others covered.

Great call on Ian McKellan, Elvis, Richard III is my favorite Shakespearian screen adaptation & Sir Ian's performance was a thing of beauty (or pure evil...depends on how you look at it I guess).
