Good call on the Wilco albums. I'd have to add Yo La Tengo's 1997 album I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One. Sooner or later, I'll finally figure out my 10.
This is hard as hell....easily my favorite decade of music, and home to many of the bands I listen to now. Ten albums would be impossible, but here's a handful and then some..... Counting Crows- August and Everything After and Recovering the Satellites DM Band-Crash Live- Throwing Copper RHCP- Blood Sugar Sex Magic Smashing Pumpkins- Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness Tribe Called Quest- Midnight Marauders Eminem- Slim Shady LP Outkast- Aquemini Beastie Boys- Check Your Head Weezer- Weezer Better Than Ezra- Friction, Baby Collective Soul- Collective Soul Nirvana- Nevermind and In Utero Third Eye Blind- Self-titled MB20- Yourself or Someone Like You Hootie- Cracked Rear View Fiona Apple- (First Album) RATM- Self-titled I have no doubts I'm forgetting some, but just seeing the stuff listed by others helped me remember a few....
Man it's crazy how important/awesome album covers were back then. Now I feel like covers are pretty pointless..seeing a 2x2 inch album cover on my itunes playlist make it less interesting... Anyway..what about the important pop albums of the 90s? Those sold millions!! Spice Girls - Spice Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill Green Day - Dookie (IMO the only album by them worth listening to) Live - Throwing Copper Goo Goo Dolls - A Boy Named Goo Sublime - Sublime No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom Nirvana - Unplugged Bush - Sixteen Stone Weezer - Weezer TLC - CrazySexyCool Mariah Carey - Fantasy Boyz II Men - II

Instead of listing albums that have already been mentioned, the cardigans - emmerdale the cranberries - no need to argue the cure - wish olive - extra virgin the cranberries - bury the hatchet
Well I've gotten into music quite a bit over this past year. I'll give it a slightly more educated try this time. 1.) Radiohead OK Computer 2.) Nirvana - Nevermind 3.) The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin 4.) Radiohead - The Bends 5.) Portishead - Dummy 6.) Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F#A#∞ 7.) Beck - Odelay 8.) Pixies - Trompe Le Monde 9.) Belle and Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister 10.) Sigur Ros - Ágætis byrjun I still haven't gotten to Shoegaze yet though, so many albums so little time.
When I was in elementary school I couldn't fall asleep without No need to argue album playing in the background.
I'll just do five. Probably more personal than critical here. In No Particular Order... 1A.Oasis-Definitely Maybe(Just a great album, every song is solid . Plus, holds one of Oasis most underrated songs IMO-Slide Away. Liam's voice was the best it would ever be during this time. Now his voice isn't sounding to good. To much cigarettes and alcohol? 1B.What's The Story Morning Glory? (What can I say, mid-late 90's Oasis material was fantastic. I know, they never really got embraced by America for some reason though, the way they did in the UK. So understandable that so many Americans think they are overrated.) 2.Mazzy Star-She Hangs Brightly I don't know if many guys like this band (or even remember them) but I do. Love 'Em. Hope Sandoval's voice is so hypnotic. Very sweet songs, kind of sad, yet hopeful. 3.Nas-Illmatic Felt at least one hip hop album should get a mention. And I don't care what anyone says...I think this is one of the best hip hop albums ever. 4.Radiohead-Ok Computer It's Radiohead. I would imagine that this would be on most professional critics list. 5.Nirvana Nevermind? I would...but I don't really like Nirvana. Sorry. I'm sure they are on everybody's list anyway. Bjork-Post. Go ahead...laugh at me.
no love for Love and Danger? or is that 80s? Letter to Laredo has really aged well. are you a Tom Russell fan?
