Old timer, I mean lucky old timer! Only heard stories about how great that show was, juuust abit before my concert going days. Did make the SS show and seeing that, DM and Erasure along w/Morrissey made for some great great memoires!

yes. I remember the first time I heard Tears For Fears, vividly. I was 6 years old. A few neighborhood kids were over, one of them was Kim Zmeskal(1992 olympic bronze medalist) and her younger sister Melissa. I remember Melissa being the first girl I 'liked'. My father was in the backyard with the other parents. MTV was on. MTV had been on in our house before. I remember hearing Michael Jackson, Madonna, Dire Straits et all. Nothing really stood out.

I don't remember what we were doing that day, probably typical kid ****. Board games, hide-n-go-seek or something. But I heard 'Head Over Heels' and literally stop in my tracks. I stared endlessly at the TV. It wasn't the video. I mean a jewish rabbi and a monkey donning a red sox jersey reading books in a library was interesting......but, that was the first time in my life I recognized that I had 'felt' music. I didn't even care that Melissa was over there anymore.

in the following days, I would sit and watch MTV for hours waiting for that same video to come on. and when it finally did. that 4 minutes felt like 10 seconds. I got that album later that year as a present. I played it to the point my father would ask me to turn it off. It never got old for me. I personally hold Tears For Fears responsible for everything musically obsessive about me.

Is 'Songs From The Big Chair' a genius album? nope. I understand it's generic UK pop. Simple lyrics. Easy beats. Splash of analog synth. Pretty standard 80's stuff. It's probably near the bottom of top 80's albums for most people, and wouldn't even be considered the best album of 1985 for many. But, I could make an argument that, personally, 'Songs From the Big Chair' is the greatest album ever made.
