I lamented the fact that I didn't even get to Rap earlier in the thread. The 80s is just too overwhelming a decade in music for me, man.
    Public Enemy
    Beastie Boys
    EPMD
    Eric B and Rakim
    BDP
    NWA
    It's endless...

That was released in England in 1979 and the US in January of 1980... so I'll give it to you, but barely.

Are you sure that was New Order? I saw NO at southern star, opening band was Sugar Cubes and Bernard Sumner wasn't wearing a tutu of any kind.

    Pink tutu was Erasure.

I know I had to check. Though the 79 date for England was in 1979. But I thought the January 80 date for the U.S. would make it count. Afterall they are the "The only band that matters"

I'm limiting myself to only 1 album per band. It ain't easy...

The Police - Zenyattà Mondatta (duh!)

U2 - The Unforgettable Fire (my all-time favorite U2 album)
Rush - Exit Stage Left (YYZ solo literally changed my life forever)
Van Halen - Fair Warning (Unchained = greatest opening riff ever)
REM - Fables of the Reconstruction (barely edges out Murmur)
Ozzy Osbourne - Blizzard of Ozz (world....meet Randy Rhoads)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Freaky Styley (my first introduction to the funk)
Public Enemy - It Take a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (still my all-time favorite rap album)
Sting - The Dream of the Blue Turtles (made me go out and buy some jazz records)
Genesis - Abacab (my introduction to Genesis)
